Okay, we've all done it. We threw down the cash for something that just sucked, didn't work, didn't scratch the itch...

What's your most recent upgrade regret?

I plunked down cash for a Pedal Commander. It did exactly nothing.
(I will say, however, that the Ultimate9 Throttle Controller is pretty killer.).

For me it was my head unit replacement. After replacing my OEM with a Sony 9500ES and wiring in a 5-channel amp it sounds exactly the same but louder. I am now finding myself going down the rabbit hole of wanting to get new speakers, sound treat the doors around the speaker area, and installing a sub. Now thinking, I should've just use that for something else like some ADS or Kings instead.

I bought a set of sill covers that I regret. After I ordered them, I looked through posts of people dealing with corrosion underneath them and decided not to install them. The cost of return shipping wasn't worth it but luckily they weren't that much money in the grand scheme. I also realized that I never step on the sill so I'm not sure they would have done much.

Audio is a huge, huge rabbit hole. I do find myself wishing my Taco had a better sound system, but I'd probably start with speakers, then soundproofing, rather than the head unit.

I had a Softopper for a while. I did not like it at all.

Now I have an RSI SmartCap, which I very much like, but I'm going to sell it so I can get a bed rack system instead.

Uptop roof rack, cali raised light bar, diamondback tonneau
Biggest one so far was my bakflip tonneau. I wanted diamondback, settled on bakflip and bought diamondback and am much happier.

I will find out about my magnaflow overland that I just ordered....

    None at all.

The first month I was salivating at all the cool shit I could do to it and this site didn't help at all LOL...
but with my wife's input ( she's always right ) I got some real nice steps, bed lights, bed step (invaluable!),
and the Bakflip MX4 cover. Added some RekGen mudflaps and a cool tow hitch cover to round it off.
WeatherTech floor mats look good in it too and function well.

Replaced OEM Tires with WildPeaks and now I'm set to sail into the sunset... my son is banking on
    my early demise...

Didn't go crazy just the essentials but I do feel they are all worth it.

A man with no regrets! That's impressive.

After a few minor missteps, I definitely have a "necessities only" mindset.

That's good to know. I wanted new lights for a while but I think I'm off that obsession, at least for now.

Exact opposite opinion haha. I got them during the pre-order phase and have had them installed for I guess 3 years now. Zero issues and I think they look amazing.

Meso junk and Bakflip F1 tonneau. Pretty much everything else I got I’m happy with, but I pretty much only do things that I 100% know I’m going to like before I do them. I thought the two above would be that way, but both performed poorly in my experience and so I didn’t like them like I thought I would. Tonneau is still on the truck but I want to ditch it.

TBH when I first installed my lift and tires, it ruined the truck and I was ready to trade it in. Couldn't shift properly and rode absolutely terribly. But after multiple ECU tunes, multiple revalves on the shocks, a different set of leaf springs, and Hammer hangers, the truck is amazing to be in. Glad I stuck with it.

If there was a mod I regret that I haven't fixed, it would probably be the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They look great, but I haven't found any terrain where they actually grip, and they are drifto af if there is the slightest hint moisture on the ground. Won't be buying them next time around.

OP, lol @ Pedal Commander. Those things are useless.

You installed an amp and kept the awful factory door speakers? Without knowing your amp specs it would be hard to recommend a speaker, but it's usually safe to recommend Infinity Kappas. They're my go-to speakers for recommending to people, with or without an amp.
