    Hello,

I've had my 99 Tacoma for a couple years now and am wanting to do some upgrades. I want to do a decked drawer system for hunting but they only have it for 2005 tacoma's. Does anyone know if it could still work in the 99?

Also looking at doing a suspension upgrade for a 2-3" suspension lift for better clearance, I spend a lot of time in the mountains and driving extremely rough terrain and am trying to get the ride a little more comfortable and safer for the truck. Needs to be a little bit budget friendly.

Also, its a 5 speed manual and really would like to do a 6 speed manual in the truck but can't find anything on it. Is it possible to get a 6 speed manual from a newer tacoma and drop it in?

    Thanks for any replies!

Second gen bed spec is much larger. Try looking for a deck drawer for a Canyon or Colorado since the dimensions are more similar.

As for lift, that comes down to how much your pocket is. Some folks consider leveling kit (puck & block) as having a lift, others do body lift. Traditional lift start at about 1k to easily 4k+ for the better quality.

Highly doubt a 6 speed will drop in. At the same time, it's not worth the time and money for the additional gearing.

Anything is possible. But practical? Hmm....

I can understand the desire to swap an auto trans, but you already have a manual, just doesn't seem worth it, given the expense and effort (likely a custom bell housing, custom trans mounts, drive line, etc...). IMO you'd be better off swapping a whole engine/trans...

Truckvault is another brand that appears to make drawers for the 1st gen. But goddamn, I just "built" one on their website for a 1st gen extracab with no additional accessories and it was almost 5 grand.

Thank you for the replies, I’ll probably just keep the 5 speed till the motor gives then I’ll look at different motor option. As far as the drawer system thank you I will look into those options.

Solid wood worx will have plans for a drawer system this year. Take the truck has drawer plans if you do build Id cut weight by cutting holes in the plywood but keeping structural integrity. 200lbs vs 100lbs

Make your own deck system. 3” lift spacer for cheapies and bloks. 6 speed swap not worth it, just put a sc on it..

Something you will come to learn about the first gens as you begin to modify it is how little aftermarket support there is compared to the newer 2nd and 3rd gens.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s TONS of aftermarket accessories and parts available for these trucks. But not nearly as much as the later trucks.
