I like most others think it is almost useless and im looking to upgrade it but it seems there are some barriers in the way so i cant just toss in the oem audio kit so is there a way to get it in or another kit or otherwise to be able to get better sound out of it?

I plan on replacing my speakers with jbl or infinity kappa and a pioneer sub while leaving the amp etc. it is loud enough for me the sound quality is meh though.

Depending on what you use for an audio service so far youtube music (hq) over bluetooth hands down sounds the best. Better than carplay over wired or anything else on bluetooth. Its not even close. I prefer a flat sound with decent bass and as of now have no reason to upgrade. Your results may vary but worth a shot.

so if i want to put in the kit from oem audio plus the only thing i would need to change is the factory amp, and could i just switch it for an amp from another taco that doesn't have the premium audio package and have it function just as a normal taco with said kit?

ive gotten mine decant through spotify and some eq stuff, the problem is that it starts to get quieter after about 30 min of listening to it very loud, and it doesnt get as loud as i would like it and i have a friend who has the full kit from oem audio plus with the dual subs and its just a whole different experience that is 1000% better imo and i would like to do the same

no clue but it pisses me off, it starts out just a bit quieter than i would like but after about 30 min it is significantly quieter and the sub shuts off or at least i think(so ive probably broken some speakers) but it gets better if i turn it down to 10 or so for like 10 min and turn it back up it gets fixed

You can’t put the OEM kit in with the JBL system.

short of a LOT of wiring work (and a new non-JBL head unit) you’re not getting the OEM kit in that truck unfortunately

i should have phrased it better, if i change the stock amp to the stock amp from a non jbl audio truck could i then install the oem audio kit since i would the have the speakers and sub from that and an amp changed out to a standard amp?

You could just swap the headunit for something that pumps out more power and has android auto/car play and EQ ability. Sounds noticeably better, not amazing by any means, but it's now exactly what I expect out of a factory set up. The stock headunit is a bit lacking.

i like a lot of the other functions of the head unit like the bread crumbs that it can leave so i don't get lost on trails and such, im really just hoping to change out the speakers and add an amp(there paper cones so im probably already breaking them down)

That's fair! I didn't know the stock headunit could do that. May be worth a dedicated nav solution and taking the easy way out for audio?

you can keep the stock HU just have to get a new signal processor, amp, speakers, and decide if you want to upgrade the sub as well

    No.
There is no amp on the non-JBL. The head unit powers everything. And al of the wiring is different. Different connectors, different signals, different everything.

I have a 2020 JBL system and I upgraded what I could in stages.
    1. I used Nirco sound damping on the doors, in my opinion this made the most difference.
    a. I used Nirco on the back of the truck
    b. I used Nirco around the plastic sub enclosure and on the inside of the enclosure.
    2. I replaced the front and rear speakers with JBL 2.3 ohm speakers.
    3. The second biggest difference was replacing the sub with the dual 4 ohm kicker sub. Then you wire the sub for a single 2 ohm input. Then you bridge the JBL amp. You can tell it increases the watts a little you can tell a difference.
You might have to modify the base box for the kicker sub it is a little deeper, I think I had to trim down the internal fins inside the enclosure.
If you don't want to do that then you can use the Pioneer shallow mount sub, it fits perfect even the screw holds line up. if you go with the pioneer then you have to keep it dual 2 ohms so you can't bridge the JBL amp.
The kicker sounds louder and has lower bass. (but that might be because it was bridged.

That was stage 1. It sounded a lot better than factory

Stage 2 was getting an audio control amp 300.1 with bass knob and then hooking up to a JL sub. That made the biggest difference.

Stage 3 is getting an addition amp to power the tweeter/6x9 and the 6.5s

Stage 1 and 2 sounds great to me so I am not going to upgrade to stage 3 yet.
