Time for new tires and rims. Here's where I'm at: 2006 Tacoma TRD Sport Silver Streak with 220,000 miles but body/paint in very nice shape, sparing a few typical dings or scratches, but given the age and mileage, not looking for too much bling, but a definite style upgrade.

My Michelin Defender LTX M/S are end of life (265/65-17). Don't think I need 70K mile tires at this point, 50K will be fine. Southern Louisiana, rather rainy. Usage is lots of street and highway mileage, but occasionally light offroad in and near cypress swamps with wet sticky mud, and dropping a small trailer with kayaks into a boat launch. Comfort, quiet, good rain handling, and occasional get me out of the mud without spinning out is what I'm looking for. Highway tire OK? Something a little more all terrain? Browsing Tire Rack I saw good ratings and great value on Cooper Evolution H/T here:

Regarding wheels, what I'm seeing on Tire Rack is the range of pricing is a bit wide, and wondering what people feel about these brands. The Ultra are the most economical and I like some of their looks. Pardon the long list but you can check out one or two of each brand (Looking at not solid color but black/anthracite or black/aluminum combo). One thing is the offsets vary quite a bit, and are considerably different than my stock rims, not sure what to make of that. They are kind of in descending order in terms of price. Hoping to stick with 17 inch, will go down to 16 inch, but don't want to go up to 18 or higher, unless someone has a good opinion on that. You can see the style I am looking for by sampling a few of these, just confused about the offset and price differences, (tire/wheel weight combo important too):

    Thanks for the input!

OK, cut to the chase. Since I am finding myself more in off-road situations and dropping a small boat trailer, I'm liking the reviews on this highway/light duty A/T tire. This is what I am looking at from Tire Rack:

    Replacing this:

    Have a few questions:

1.Any thoughts on Ultra Motorsports rims in terms of quality/price/etc?

    1. Does this look compatible with my truck (tire size slightly different) including the offset?

    2. I lost my TPMS long ago. Tire Rack TPMS a lot less expensive than local dealers, as well as free mounting and balancing, hard to beat. Does the Tacoma 2nd gen TPMS system include the spare? What do I need to do to calibrate the TPMS in my truck? Self calibrated or do I have to take it to a tire shop?

I don't now much about tire sizes, off-sets, brands etc., so your thoughts appreciated.
