    I currently have a 1998 Regular cab Tacoma. 2.4 2wd. I got it for $2500 last month.

Someone came up to me and offered me $6500 for a 2007 regular cab Tacoma.

I'm debating on whether or not to make the leap for it. Truck works perfectly besides cosmetic damage (some scratches, roof paint peeling, minor bumper accident).

I checked KBB and Edmund and they all say it should be around $5000 ~ 6000. However, you can't even find trucks of those price at dealerships or craigslist so I am wondering if this is a good deal or not.

Well, what the books say and what the owner is ultimately willing to let it go for are two different things. All you can do is try to talk him down a little. Worst he can say is no, and if you really want to truck you're going to pay him anyway :p

6500 isn't wild, he might have just put on tires or something like that. I'm asking for more than blue book on mine for the same reason, and if someone asks me why it's more than blue book I'll tell them to find one that's going for that price, private party or dealership.

2 WD? 4WD? Miles? engine size? Auto or stick?

You're asking what a rock is worth without telling us if it's a diamond or a piece of sandstone.

Make sure the frame isn't rusted out.

I would not offer $6,500 because of the paint damage. The roof will have to be repainted or Line-Xed to prevent the panel from rusting. Paint damage IMO is just as bad as mechanical damage because letting it go is costly and fixing it is costly. If its rusted already a new roof panel could be a couple thousand.

I only pay above KBB or at it for perfectly maintained vehicles. I just sold my '02 F-250 for $3k over KBB. It was meticulous (and had mods out the ass).

Just my $.10. I think hes asking too much for a truck he didn't care for.

In the end, you are the only one whos opinion matters. Do what you will be happy with.

After owning an access cab, I would never buy a standard cab.
