I’m thinking of starting to look for a newer Tacoma. I have a 2012 now that my grandson wants to buy from me.

I’m going to look at low mileage 2018’s when I start. My question is, is there any known flaws/quirks with the 2018 model year?

My other question I have is I have an almost new set of 16” wheels and tires for my 12 would they also fit on the 2018?

    My current ride.

All 18's have TSS (Toyota safety sense) which is auto braking, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control. Your wheels/tires will work but you'll need to swap your tpms.

Cant comment on the wheels but I can say that my 2018 had been mechanically sound so far! No issues to report.

well if your 2012 is a 4.0 then be prepared for the 3.5. if your 2012 is an automatic then be prepared for the new tranny in the 3rd gen. hundreds of threads here on both issues.

The wheels would fit. As stated above, test drive for as long as possible under every normal condition you drive under because the engine/trans is very different. Some trucks don’t have an issue but some do. The 18’s are better though.
