What was unclear? There is no manual access cab off road available any longer.

Loved my 2006, love my 2016 even more. That being said, I haven't had any of the problems people have been commenting on regarding the 3rd Gen.

I really like the new TRD Pro that's coming out in cement.
Too bad they don't make one with a long bed.

The R156F transmission would make a nice (minor) upgrade from the R155F, since it has a slightly lower first and second gear ratio (first 4.3 vs 3.9), but that is about all of the difference, and it isn't enough to be worth changing out the entire truck. The rest of the differences are superficial/cosmetic.

Sounds like you have buyers remorse.
    It's downgrade Togo from 2gen to 3gen.
I have 2007 DCLB and my truck is speced for more towing capacity an payload than the same 2016 model so yeah it would be hugde downgrade.
Also 1gr engine was built to last (hence why Toyota was willing to put supercharger and warranty it) on the other hand new Tacoma comes with engine that was built to be cheap. Great for Toyota not that great for me.
Why would I trade vehicle with Japan build engine an transmission for a half Chineese sourced engine and who knows where transmission came from?
As of what I will drive with 2genno longer sold? I got Subaru Crosstrek instead of 2016 Tacoma. Made in Japan, great quality and I will not put more miles on my 2gen.
    :)

No plans on upgrading. More for the point I never buy 1 releases of any car/bike/truck/boat/RV/UTV/Quad and so on. Let the manufacture work out the bugs in a year or two, then buy.

    Carseat.
I recently upgraded from a 2nd gen to another 2nd gen.

Had an access cab but needed room for a carseat (perfectly acceptable reason:rolleyes:).. and not entirely trusting of a launch year motor.

Bought my 2015 knowing a third gen was coming out. Figured i would want the third gen after a few years of working the bugs out

Yeah, I doubt there will be many crazy people to buy 3gen used.
Lets think about for a second,
    • underpowered stressed engine with extra wear, now with 12 injectors to fail. (all the engine failures so far are just flat out crazy)
    • transmission that people drove with low fluid straight from factory so you know they burned clutch packs to crap.
    • Hood filled with all kinds of shit to stop from vibrating.
    • Low fluid in front differential so most likely burned bearings.
    • All that packaged in 2 gen body with ugly grill attached to it.
No Thanks, No way I would buy 2016 Tacoma used.
Maybe to swap different engine and transmission but not for driving. If I see salvage price I may consider but no way I am paying any money for somebody else problems. Just swapping transmission is going to cost as such as that truck.

Well the 2gr isn't a new engine by any stretch of the imagination other than the new injection system. It won Ward's best engine multiple times

nah.. just last month, paid off the loan in three yrs out of the 6 yr loan deal,, its a 14 and never had one issue. now it got 56xxx mileson it. Going to keep it for awhile, say 120xxx miles then trade or sell. for the 16 model.. not going to buy frist yr run until they get all the issues fixed.. I may go full size . this my 2 cents

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
    Lexus motor in a truck.

    That's all I'm saying.
