Thanks! Hopefully I don't screw him up during training! Haha! He's out of a breeding that Dave Hughes put together. The sire is Long Gone Studley and has a ton of Grouse Ridge in both the sire and dam's bloodlines.

As far as the avatar goes, hoping Ireland can beat the Welsh next week which will clinch England the Six Nations. Would be a good confidence booster rolling into the World Cup this fall.

Sorry I haven't been checking in much. I had an incredible season and shot 14 species of upland birds over my setter in 5 states. Picked up her littermate while I was in KS and got a new 20ga, grade IV Ugartechea. There, I'm all caught up.

New gun, new dog Roy, and one of my favorite pictures from this season.

    Looking for some dog advice...
Wife wants another great Dane but I'm thinking bird dog. I go for ducks, geese, grouse and pheasants. Hunting dogs are out of my area of expertise. Any recommendations? I also have a 7yr old son and my wife hates dog hair. Is there a best of all worlds for dog breed? Thanks in advance

Yeah... they need to start timbering the hell out of the GW and the Jeff. Or burn them...hot! So the mature trees die off and there ends up being some successional forest habitat.

Sad that the average age class in the National forest here is 80+ years. No mast, no cover. Bad for all kinds of wildlife.

Are you more of a waterfowl guy or more of an upland guy?

I hate to break the news to your wife, but all dogs have hair :D

Yep it’s real sad. About the only good birds we have aren’t even upland - dove and waterfowl are about it anymore.

It’s been hell on the white tail population as well. Still plenty of bears though.

It has been a while since I have posted here. I just added a new birdgun to the arsenal because I couldn’t afford not to. 0B366965-BC2C-437C-942C-233E0A20649E.jpg

Straight stock has always been my preference. Also like the Schnabel forend. That looks a little like the Browning Citori Upland Special they were putting out a few years back, if memory serves me right, it had a 24" barrel. Great "point and shoot" gun, not so good if you're swinging through a shot.
