Looking to replace the upper control arms on my 08 Tacoma Base Double cab. I have Fox 2.0 coilover shocks already installed, giving about a 2" lift. Looking for something on the cheaper end but well built. Any reccomendations?

SPC's are the usual go to for reasonably priced and good UCA's

Mevotech sells rebranded SPC UCAs at about half the price, check 'em out

They're the older tubular arm style, SPC switched to a forged design this year (and the price went way up). Can get the tubular version via Mevotech for about $300.

One big point where the JBAs excel is the ease of alignment. Your average tech at the local alignment shop can get you good numbers relatively easily. I believe there is more adjustability with some of the others but I came across a number of stories where that adjustability caused more problem than you would expect. At least that’s what my research turned up.

The same shit everyone else has.
SPCs because they have more adjustability. You can fine tune your alignment numbers to exactly what you want.

JBA or TC. SPC bind up and cause accidents. Stay far away from the walmart UCAs, I'd stay with OEM before I went with SPC

I've never heard of that happening with spcs, what do you mean by bind up? Mine have worked great for years.

Where the bushings mate up with the coil buckets they snap, poor design from the beginning. If you google SPC control arm failure you'll see a whole hootload of people who have been disappointed by them.

Oh ya you mean where the welds were failing on the arms where they meet the bushings, I remember that. They fixed that issue a few years back, plus their arms are completely forged now. Totally different design than they were back then.

The issues early on with the spc arms were due to people not installing them properly... That is they would torque down the main bolt at full droop... Rubber bonded bushings of the original design do not like that and caused the cracks seen... Since then they have switched to specride free floating bushings and then now xaxis joints...

Needless to say the issues of SPC arms are long gone and offer more adjustability and range of motion that most.

JBA had a few gnarly issues early on as well....

Thanks for the info everyone. Makes my decision a lot easier going by peer reviews instead of taking a shot in the dark.

Why are you looking to replace the UCA's? What's wrong with the stock ones?
