Ok thats what i thought. I noticed on JBAs website that some have a painted black top face plate and some were not painted. Maybe if i order them i will call and specify to try to get the painted ones

Yeah, not sure where the black ones came from. Every set we have bought was clear. Joe might know the answer. He is their Tacomaworld Rep. Paging @Blackout14

For me JBA was the easy choice. When SPC has had issues, like welds breaking and people nearly dying from their front end coming apart, they did absolutely nothing for their customers. No refunds, no apologies, not a god damned thing. They just kept selling the same shitty design for years without giving a single fuck about the damage they caused.

When JBA hit the market they had similar teething problems. No outright failures like SPC but the arms did contract the coil bucket which of course caused some minor damage. Unlike SPC the owner made sure each compliant was addressed and the design was fixed literally overnight. In fact, their design in a couple of years has gone from rough prototype to fully rebuildable at home greasable joints with OEM bushings.

Support the businesses that support their customers. If your arms go to shit SPC literally doesn’t give a fuck about you and won’t help you with your problems.

Thanks boo. I knew he started machining his own, didnt know the black were the GM ones. Have you mentioned to Marlin about the rust issues? Can't be more than $1 per piece to have them powder coated.

Just to clarify the rust is only cosmetic right?

SPC failures were on their original design and failed do to improper install by the end user.... their original design used a similar to stock bonded rubber bushing of which you had to tighten the main bolt at ride height.... the people that had theirs break did not do this which caused the stress breaks.

Second gen had their specride bushings which were free floating and the main bolt could be tightened at any uca position without issue.... these bushings did good but do squeak (mine do)

3rd gen spc arms have their new xAxis bushings, essentially a sealed uniball on each of the mounting spots to the frame, no lubing is needed (or so they claim)!

I went with SPC because at the time JBA's just came out and had some of the aforementioned bending issues (no bueno) and the extra adjustability was a plus for me on the spc arms.

Now, i would still choose the SPC arms as MY GOD THEY MAKE ALIGNMENT SOOOOOO EASY!

No offence but nothing you said changes the fact that SPC knew there were problems occurring with their design and yet kept selling them without supporting current owners. In fact, what you described isn’t their explanation from what I remember. That’s the explanation TW members and mechanics figured out after comparing multiple installations for what went wrong, so to speak. Only after TW figured out what was going on did SPC use that explanation.

I’m glad the SPC arms are working out for you and you like the design. I voted another way with my dollar. I could of bought SPC locally and I did not for the reasons I described. I think their current product is good, but that didn’t change my impression of the company and how they would handle any issues I may have.

You answered your own question . I have all pros on my first and second Jen .never had a problem with any of them. I did not know about JBA when I got ucas for my 07 but if I did then that would have been the way to go.

I currently run SPC LR UCAs. If I were to do it all over again, JBA would get my money. I was pinching pennies at the time of initial lift, and saved a few bucks to have the SPC's included in the lift bundle. I was even told to get JBA at that time, but I knew better :D I have not had issues with the SPCs, other than balljoint failure after 50-60K, but to me those are a wear item and need to be serviced / replaced as needed. My only gripe about the SPCs is nothing against the arms themselves, but the shitty alignment techs that will not mess with the upper adjustments. If you have a tech that will take time and dial them in to the 3° caster range, no issues whatsoever. I like the JBA with the built in high caster, no adjustment needed.
