Upper control arms

    Be aware many aftermarket upper control arms will move your tires to the rear. My son just install a JBA upper-controls arms on a 2016 Tacoma TRD.
    Was lifted two years ago ,with a 2inch lift.

    After the new JBA upper control arms was install he had rubbing issues. We did a cab mount chop. With the stock upper control arms it was NO rubbing. 32’ tires BFG KOs

    I install the SPC upper control arms with the Bilstein 6112/5160 ,2019 Tacoma TRD ,and I had rubbing issues ,did a cab mount chop (twice) and trim inside fenders. 32s BFG KO

    I also found out some people had NO rubbing issues, many had 0- setback on the rims. I think I had a -12 .
    Maybe stock rims or 0 set rims maybe better?

    Also many comments mentions under any lifts less then 2.5 inches upper control arms require?

    Best to research more about UCAs I do like the SPC for sure.

    The number issues I have with aftermarket UCA’s is the maintenance requirements. I am glad the JBA and SPC has replacement ball joints simple and many available parts for replacement plus the life span.

    For Sale: low-key overland build (done june 2021)
    I've got a 2.5" lift with the SPC control arms. Super solid. One data point: as I've gone to bigger wheels and had to realign the front end the folks at the shop where very pleased to see the SPC upper control arms - lots of room to adjust and a better chance of a good fit for bigger wheels and to-spec alignment. Mine doesn't pull or wonder at all. The only thing is they have to be greased regularly as compared to stock.

    Weird to see this particular UCA thread revived, but here's my $.02 anyway...

    Check out Poly Performance:
    Plenty of caster/camber for a 2-3" lift; OEM style ball joints and bushings (with better rubber); basically maintenance free; plenty strong; and "only" $450.
    Too many people out there spending crazy money on UCAs that are complete overkill for this truck.

    Thank you for sharing this Poly Performance UCA. I like the idea greaseless and maintenance free. Definitely something I would buy and have installed.

    Nice to always see new and improved Tacoma products.

    King 2.5" and JBA UCA went in on the driver side. That UCA removal / install was brutal.... and apparently that isn't even the "hard side." Atleast it looks badazz :)

    The driver side was much more difficult on my truck, and I cut the bolts. There was zero chance of the bolt coming out with just bending; I would have been cutting the fender.

    That is good to know. It was a total PITA to get out. Bending definitely helped but the bolt did not just "slide" out. I had to beat the heck out of it with a long punch and mallet. Getting it back in wasn't very easy either. Had to stick a long rod through the grill in order to tap it in with a mallet. Might do the passenger side later today.... but I am dreading it.
