Too many of the dealerships want to pass the buck, and not deal with the issues at hand. And most do not have a clue in what they are selling. (I know took a dealership class in 1992)
Personally I would push and fight the issue, especially if it is some "A" holes lack of knowledge.
Sooner or later it will hit the top of the food chain, and for me,"That's when it becomes fun."

What's the RPM look like when it's shaking? Almost sounds like it's lugging - can't imagine on a computer-controlled system why though.

    tacoskim,
It sounds like I am having the same problem as you are. I can feel it in the morning when pull out of the garage. Backing up and turning hard. I am applying alittle pressure to the brakes and I get a strong vibration felt through the pedal, steering wheel, and the truck. Pressing harder on the brakes and coming to a stop it seems to stop. Rpm's do not change at all as well as the sound of the engine. It will not happen any more during the day. Im getting ready to send it in to Toyota and have it looked at as well having them to the suspension TSB.

I have the same vibration or whatever it is. Every morning when I back out of my driveway and turn the wheel left, then give it a little gas, it vibrates and shutters. The dealer has it now but so far has said they can't feel anything. I have felt it for the past 3 months, every morning when I leave for work and every afternoon when I leave work for home.

If they find something I'll post it here. If anyone else gets some answers please pass them along.

It almost feels like the brakes are sticking.

It's obvious Toyota doesn't want to cover the costs to fix the vehicle while you're in the warranty by playing The old "nothing is wrong" game. From those notes I can tell that the dealer is trying to justify ways to void the warranty in the event Toyota has to put the money to fix the problem. You have to know how corporations protect themselves dishonestly (but legally) to understand what I'm talking about.

I remember reading an article that hundreds of thousand of vehicles sold in '98 to 2004, Toyota was forced to do a recall because of engine sludge problems. Toyota blamed those hundreds of thousands of customers for not using Toyota oil in the oil changes even when the sludge problem became rapant in certain models! lolz...when I read that I laughed. HELLO!!! A lot of customer complained about sludge probs and you intend to blame hundreds of thousands of people for not using the right oil? How lame is that? I think the government had to get involved.

After all these stories I'm totally turned off with staying with Toyota and my pursuit of an '09 Tacoma. I might have to go German - BMW or Voltswagon.

I just brought my truck back from the dealer. I even went for a quick drive around the dealership with the mechanic but I couldn't duplicate the problem. Of course it will do it again tomorrow morning when I leave for work.

The mechanic said that he has heard of the same complaint from other customers but they can never duplicate the problem. I'm going to try everything I can think of to find it. It's become a challenge now.

I'll keep you posted. There has to be a simple answer.

I have just developed the same problem with my 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport. I took it to my local dealer and they said it was a engine or driveshaft mount. They said that this is a problem that Toyota is aware of and either has issued a recall or is looking at issuing a recall. Anyway, my tacoma is still under warrenty and they said it would be covered. They had to order parts so I am unable to tell you if this fix worked or not yet.

Did you ask to speak to the Service Manager and the Shop Foreman? I had a problem at the dealer reference tires and the writer lied about my warranty coverage then lied to the service manager, I complained all the way to Toyota Corporate and now they are sending me a check. If the shop manager and the foreman both refuse to do anything and say they can't duplicate the problem then go to the General Manager. Also have them show you the correction reference your suspension not being stock and have them re-print it, if they won't then go to the GM. If the GM doesn't fix it then call Toyota Corporate. Document everything, get business cards from every person you speak to then take it to another dealership. Good luck, hope you get it worked out, don't let them get over on you.

What parts are they ordering??? There have been a few issues of motor mounts breaking, which would cause the vibes. Would be interesting to hear if Toyota is actually fessing up to the broken motor mount issue now. Actually, it wasn't the motor mounts breaking, it was the frame breaking....mounts have actually torn away from the frame.
