I’m still new to modifying 3rd gen tacomas. Looking to improve the exhaust system. Can someone tell me if running both of these kits (links below) will replace the entire exhaust system and remove all of the catalytic converters. Also for the power extractor pipes, they have an option to add “RB-U” what is that? Thanks.

(I know it won’t pass inspection if I do this)

Yes, that setup would replace the entire exhaust system and remove all of the catalytic converters. The Power Extractor Pipes would remove the primary cats, and the Spec-U removes the secondary cats. You'll need to pick up some O2 sensor simulators to prevent CEL's. The other option would be to run AFE's catted downtubes, they cost a bit more with having the cats but still offer good HP/TQ gains and won't throw any CEL's

Will the AFE downpipes fit the spec-u exhaust?

I purchased the spec-U but was hesitant to get the afe downpipe because the spec-u description says "The Spec-U system will bolt to the rear of the stock exhaust manifolds/front cats or the URD catless power extractor pipes. The system is not compatible with any other Y pipe or cat-back system"

It states it's not compatible with any y-pipe or cat back system because it's a full exhaust system itself that routes differently than the stock exhaust. But it bolts up to the stock downtubes just fine, and I would assume the AFE downtubes are in the stock location. Wouldn't hurt to send URD an email to verify though.

Do I need to select the “RB-U” option when purchasing? Also could you like some o2 sims that are good.

I have no idea what that could be referring to, sorry.

I don't know of any off the top of my head but I'm sure there are others out there.

Modifications are bad and only bad people modify.
I looked into this when looking to do an exhaust upgrade. Magnum tuning apparently has some Toyota O2 sims:

    https://www.magnumtuning.com/en/search/all-hits/tacoma o2 sim

I have no experience with them, and they're a lot more expensive now than they were when I used them, but they say they are adjustable. I can't speak to the reliability and you'll probably need to confirm the settings through a diagnostic tool. When I had an IS300 I tracked, I just spliced/soldered a small "plug and play chip" into the ECU after deleting all three cats and it was really nice, but I can't find them anymore.

Did you ever find out what the RB-U option was?
