Urd pump upgrade installed. Engine won't start.

I installed tried to start, uninstalled checked everything over and reinstalled the fuckin pump assembly and I can get the truck to start. I've tried quick start, it sparks tries to start and dies out. All connections are to instruction on urd install sheet. I can figure this thing out. Any help would be appreciated

 

Did you possibly disconnect the fuel lines from the firewall? They are 100% reverse compatible by the way so it can cause issues if you put them back on backwards.

 

Didn't touch the firewall connections.
The left most connection corresponds to the leftmost on the tank with a red dot on it (high pressure). When I disconnected the high pressure from the filter there wasn't any pressure on the line.

 

Another thing. If you want to confirm fuel coming out of the line pull it at the firewall and while cranking check for fuel output, if you do have it than you have other issues. If not, check to see if you accidently blew your fuse.

 

Is the fuse in the engine bay or inside the cab?

 

Shit, I hate to say it, but pull the pump back out and manually energize it. Bearing that your fuse is okay and you didn't somehow blow it, the only thing short of that is a huge restriction at the lines or a defective pump.

I'm not sure, pull the cover at the engine bay. You should see a description of fuses there, one should be labeled fuel pump or similar.

 

I did remove the c/opn relay when installing to be able to remove pressure. But it's now reinstalled.

 

How many times have you tried cranking it? It does take the pump a bit to prime the lines when all pressure has been relieved.

 

How do I check if a relay is blown?

 

Quite a bit. At least a min or so in total

It should had started. Check the fuse. If not, check the connections at the pump, see if it is even receiving power. The possibility always exists that you pinched wiring and are shorting to ground somewhere. If all that checks out good. You will have to pull the pump again and check to see if it is even outputting fuel. If it is not, defective pump. What brand is the pump?

Brand new kit from urd, denso pump

 

Denso? You mean the tiny little roll of quarters fuel pump which comes factory on our trucks? I have had Denso items fail before even brand new. Check what I told you and then if all else fails pull the pump again and manually energize it while immersed in a small tub of fuel with a hose going back into the tub at the output connection.

 

The fuel pump is powered by the #18 (20 A, "EFI") fuse in the engine compartment:



Here is the EFI system diagram--there is a fuel pump resistor that is in series with the pump motor when the fuel pump relay is energised--I have not yet tracked down why, "start" and "run" perhaps?:

 

I think you mean Walbro? I believe Denso is the stock fuel pump. The URD kit has several pump options with Walbro, AEM, Deatschwerks, Aeromotive, etc.. to choose from.

Probably want to check the pump that came with the kit. Might be new-in-box but still be defective. Sucks...

Efi fuse is fine

 

Crank longer. Are you certain you have fuel getting to the engine?
Is the filter installed the right direction?
