Stupid amount of extra heavy metal all over
EDIT: Contacted Gadget about the issue, he recommended bending the sheet metal slightly upwards so the bolts could pass under. Sounds like a good solution for anyone with similar fitment/clearance issues.

Backstory... So I opened up my truck today to remove the URD STS kit I installed about 2 years ago. Been happy with it, but between the handful of reports of it leading to the stock shifter breaking and the fact that my wife will be driving the truck more soon (and she wasn't a fan of the upgrade), I just decided to remove it.

Anyways, when I poped off the rubber shifter boot, this is what I saw. Looks like the elevated position of the STS kit bolts combined with engine/transmission movement allows them to hit the edges of the cab floor sheet metal.

So, either my truck has more engine/tranny movement than is typical or it's an issue people might want to address before the rust spreads. I think some lower profile bolts may be all that's needed to prevent this from happening as the URD kit bolts (being hex socket instead of hex head) are taller than they maybe need to be. Or alternatively the sheet metal could just be trimmed/bent back to allow more clearance.

Not yet. That's next on my list. (Maybe should have done that's first)

Not trying to complain or anything. Just posting cause if its happened on mine it may have happen to other people's trucks.

^X2. Check your motor/tranny mounts in case of deeper problem.

The socket head screws supplied by URD seem rather corrosion-resistant after two years through. :)

Not all the cabs line up with the trans. I had to cut mine because I had no access to the bolts. You can see with the pic below on mine the cab is back more then yours. My bolts are far below the sheet metal though. So could be worth checking out the mount.

I have had my trans repaired and taken out several times after an accident at 25k miles and none of the fitment changed with new mounts. Edit: this is my 5 speed, but applies to both drive-trains.
