URD SPEC-U LT review

Are the performance gains of the URD headers over the Doug Thorleys worth the more difficult install? I'm not a super savvy mechanic and I'm wanting to do all of my own wrenching. Truck has been in Georgia its whole life and I don't see any corrosion underneath.

 

Yes. Whole rpm range gains versus select areas of gains.

That's about my mindset. I'm using this Tacoma to become a more skilled mechanic. I've never really worked on cars very much and this seems like a good platform to learn.

 

No CEL for O2 sensor?

 

Nope

 

The driver side sensor wouldn't reach after installing the headers.

Anyone else have this problem ?

or use the middle pipe's O2 bung.

 

yup .. ordered.

But there was no mention of the extension harness. Unless it was a given that I would need it.

 

The odd thing was it wouldn't even reach the upper bung.

 

I mentioned to gadget sometime ago and one thread, that it should be noted in the description of the necessity of the extension harness. I guess it hasn't been updated yet.

 

No he hasn't. I just ordered the extensions too for the spec u's. So is it better to run a n/a ecu over a TRD reflashed ecu when running the ucon?

 

Gadget: "I would use the UCON without reflashing the ECU."

 

Headers look badass! Are they ok for freeway driving? How is the drone?

 

Only for the feeders. Steer clear of interstates and highways. County Roads are cool though.
