URD Supercharger Install on a post-09 Tacoma

    URD True Cold Air Intake URD MAF PnP Version (Very easy to install) Full Custom Exhaust 2.5" Stainless Steel Pipe, Doug Thorley Long Tube Ceramic Coated Headers, 2 stock catalytic converters (2 cat deletes), X Pipe, Dual Flowmaster Super 44s, 2 Jones 18 inch stainless steel tips, Full exhaust exits before rear passenger wheel like the SVT Lightning (I have Krisxone’s 09+ ECU adapter so I can go URD Boosted, Tested and working) 3 Inch Ultimate Toyotech lift (Silver Painted Coilovers) with Old Man Emu Leafs (No add-a-leaf here)
    After weeks of avoiding doing the inevitable I took out my Pre-09 ECU (From a salvage yard) and my Adapter that Kris made me and I finally plugged it all in. I was worried to death that doing the ECM wrecking yard OBD-II trick was going to fry my wiring harness, but after 30 nail biting minutes later the truck started up like I had the OEM (6Plug ECU/Post09 ECU) installed. I drove the truck around, mind you I’m a 6 speed manual Kris has the automatic, and everything worked the way it is suppose to. No check engine lights, no trouble codes, lights, back-up camera, hazards, 4high, 4low, everything works. During the ECM wrecking yard 30 minute trick, some lights on the dash will turn on and off for the entire 30 minutes that’s normal. I also heard a high pitched whine from the engine bay; I’ve never heard that before. Just let it go and the truck will start up in 30 minutes time no problem. A++ Kris is the man, now I just need to buy the URD Supercharger haha

    Just as a side note, since I don’t have the Supercharger yet, I wanted to go back to my hardwired Post09 OEM ECU. You will have to do the whole ECM wrecking yard 30 minute trick again, but after that it was like I never even use the Pre09 ECU.

    Like Kris said the hardest part for me was hunting down those 5 damn plugs. Getting the Post09 and Pre09 ECUs isn’t hard. Those damn plugs are worth their weight in gold, apparently. Now that I’m confident in doing the ECU/ECM 30 minute trick, I want the URD Supercharger that much more haha. Now that the TRD Supercharger are not available, I’m glad I went with Kris on the URD/Adapter route.

    Someday I might upgrade to the URD, but I'd have to have the UCON at that point because of this damn rich ass Toyota ECU reflash

    I'd love to see someone try this on a 2012 or newer... I know the TRD fit kit was different for those trucks and I'm wondering if the URD supercharger likewise is 2005 - 2011 compatible but the redesigned front end might be a problem?

    Number 2....who's going to be the 3rd? I know Justrynarip was working on an adapter with extra long wires.

    Or Im waiting until i can afford a URD SC and then ill look into it? Id say I'm right around 300 RWHP or will be damn close with headers. I'm gonna go ahead and get my long travel all installed next before i try to dive back into major ecu mods, but its on my list. I'd love to be jamming around with 400+ hp in a long travelled truck

    It is, and more. More efficient and more CFM per psi than the TRD.
