URD Y Pipe install

Just a quick heads up on the URD Y pipe. It will not clear my Pelfreybilt skid the way it routed under the transmission. It hangs below the cross member just as much as the factory Y only it moved forward on the truck. I will add more detail about it later today. Something to think about before hitting add to cart.

@Vitalzone did you go ahead with the install or hold off? If so, can you post a sound clip, or give your opinions as far as a increase in sound/noise/drone??? Also, any noticable power increase, torque? Thanks... about to pull the trigger on this, and would really like someone's opinion.

Well I'm out. That was lynchpin to the skid install.

 

I installed my URD y pipe on Tuesday and had to go out of town right after so could not comment on it until I got back today. The box arrived last Saturday and I tried to install it in my driveway but was unsuccessful due to a lack of clearance. I took it to a master mechanic friend of mine and put it up on his lift. Initially, he could not install it either until he disconnected the transmission from the frame cross member and jacked the transmission up an inch or two to gain enough clearance. The sound was only a small bit louder and most importantly, there is still no drone on the highway. The performance is about the same until around 5k RPM. Then it feels like a turbo is kicking in. My primary reason for this purchase is performance and am very pleased with the results. The 4.0 engine gains around 28 HP and I think that there would be a similiar gain for this engine. My gas mileage showed about a 1 MPG increase on this trip that I have made many times but will have to repeat several more times before I can conclusively state that it will improve mileage. My only problem is where this pipe comes way too close to the frame. Every time I make a turn or slow down I hear it rubbing on the frame and hitting a bump will produce a clanging sound. I will try to contact Gadget to see what he can do about it.

 

Sticking around to see what he says about the rubbing issue. I am interested in this.

 

Thanks for being the guinea pig. I really want to go URD for my exhaust. Hopefully G can work out some of the minor bugs.

Driving down hill. Both ways. I'm definitely not getting that.

 

Same I am getting avg around 16.9-17.6 mpg.

 

No, it was on I-95 in Florida which is totally flat. I usually get around 25 MPG on this trip. This leg of my trip was actually uphill because it was from my condo on the ocean to my home which is inland.

 

I get 21 routinely in my MT on the west coast and here in Hawaii.

 

How do you drive down hill both ways? You have to go up to get back
