I made these because I discovered that the shifter in my 99 Tacoma was lacking bushings. (They rotted away) This made alot of sense to me since my shifter rattled and wobbled when I put it into gear, and sort of felt like it was breaking. I figured it's an old truck and that that was probably how it was designed from the factory, but I was wrong! These bushings I have made follow the same design as the factory ones do, yet are made from stiffer and more resilient urethane compared to the soft OEM ones. They totally rejuvenate the feel of the shifter and give it a new(er) truck feel!

The below video demonstrates the removal of a 99 Tacomas shifter in order to replace the bushings and shows a before and after on the play.

Good idea making your own bushings. I replaced just the two on the upper rod and it eliminated the movement. I didn't know about the lower bushings though so when I need new ones I'll be in touch!

These look like the ones I bought from you in February... are they different?

Because the ones I bought in Feb are the real deal. I installed them when I did my 4x swap and they are 100% legit!

These are made out of Urethane like most bushings, the old ones were I believe PLA which is a hard plastic.

Well, if they are better than the ones I got, they gotta be good. Cause the ones I am running took up all the slop in my shifter.

Mine looked exactly like the pictures though.

These are more translucent in person, if you have the old version it’s a red hard plastic. These are flexible like rubber.

Mine were partially translucent and looked almost glittery. Didn't feel if they were flexible, my son actually installed them.

Yup! Bart did some testing for me earlier on so I felt that I had to upgrade him.

You are in fact running the newer revised version Uphillshunter. Also I apologize since I failed to notice our convo about you buying these bushings pre-this post. I want you to know that his warranty also applies to yours. (and anyone else who I may forget, but I don't think I did this time)

Haha I didn't even realize I was testing them, they were perfect.

I can 100% attest (to anyone who reads this) @Brice is a good dude. I recieved my bushings quickly and they are 100% legit.

And easy to install. My knucklehead 20 year old installed them with absolutely no guidance from me... I was busy dropping a transmission and installing a new one lol.

So I notice that my shifter and my 4x4 lever move when accelerating. They aren’t loose or wobbly, but I think it is strange that they move(forward - backwards).

Do the symptoms I provided fit the use of these bushings, or is the loose and wobbly something else?

The transfer case shifter moving is normal since it has a direct connection to the transmission.

Mine was doing the same thing... It does not do it anymore since I changed out to @Brice bushings.
