Urgent! Buying a used 2017 PRO

I’m with you man those photos don’t have a good enough angle to tell. Honestly the first pic looks like it’s more a reflection of trees on the roof than anything. If they sent you pics under the truck of the shocks I’m sure they can snap some of the roof or the sunroof controls? Seems sketch either way.

 

If you are okay with an after market sunroof go for it, if not don't buy it. My family just recently sold a new car dealership we owned for 97 years and we never installed after market sun roofs as we found they had far too many issues long term in our opinion, so I stay away from them. However, if it doesn't bother you, that is what matters. There are not factory moon roofs on a pro model, as it is not offered as an option or std. feature on a Pro on an U.S. model.

 

The reflection looks like a sunroof on the driver side that line does not go straight across the roof.

The dealer should be able to get a picture of the rarest option on a vehicle that they wish to sell.

 

Looks like a reflection on the roof too me also. keep in mind that car dealers don't always know what their talking about.

 

If you haven't seen pictures of the sunroof, its possible it doesn't exist at all OEM or aftermarket. These car dealers cut and paste these ads all the time and change the VIN/Description. Could have just been a typo.

Is it a "pop up" sunroof or a real electric moonroof? I had a 94 regular cab that had a pop up installed at the dealership. My dad was the GM at the time and got it done free when they were trying to sale the option.

 

For sale in Fairmont, WV.....a lot of money for a "used" Tacoma.

 

I'm gonna say its a reflection. Look at the line, definitely not straight across. Also, compare the location to a truck with moonroof, see how close to the front the glass is, its not that close on the PRO.
If that is an aftermarket moonroof, the location would be almost in the back seats.

 

Maybe its an aftermarket sunroof. SVC dept should be able to run the vin and tell you exactly how it came from the factory.

 

VIN doesn’t have any info about dealer installed options, like aftermarket sun roofs.

A picture of the window sticker would be a quick and complete view of what he’s looking at. Surely someone spending $48k buying a car across country has seen a picture of the window sticker.

 

Like someone mentioned, ask the dealer to send you pics of the sunroof controls, if it has one. I know Canadian 4Runner Pros have sunroofs, but the American models do not. Maybe there is something similar with the Tacomas.

 

There is no sunroof in the Canadian Tacoma Pro either.

If it's an aftermarket sun roof, STAY AWAY! Every single ten year old car I've seen with an after market sun roof has a headliner that's falling off and/or leaks. If you really want a sun roof get one from the factory and swap out the suspension for pro suspension if you really need the pro stuff. I'd bet people sell take-offs pretty cheap when they lift their trucks. You'll be out way less than the difference in going for a sport or off-road. And swapping suspension has no long-term ill effects unlike cutting a hole in the roof and head liner.

First off I just want to thank everyone here who have responded. It was an urgent matter Bc car is supposed to be shipped out today!

I just want to say that Toyota of Waldorf is legit and they are not trying to scam or make a quick sale. Spoke to my cars salesman today and he facetimed me and he did notice it's an after market sunroof.

If that's the case like many have said here I might as well wait for the 2018 or just buy the OR version. I think I'm gonna pull out. Such a tough decision!

But seriously u guys are awesome (also yeah window sticker doesn't mention sunroof).
