I'd wait for a 2018. Too much risk down the road with an after market sunroof. Especially when forking over 45k.

Lots of local dealers here do aftermarket sunroof. I know the Acura dealer did on for me a 1992 Integra RS back in the day. Mine never leaked, or had any issues. It went up and over the roof like the 92-95 EX Civics of that time.

For those of you hate "aftermarket sunroof," ASC is the one that does most of them locally. For those of you who haven't heard of the company, they are the ones that have been making Solara Convertible and Celica Convertible for Toyota since the 1980s ;)

"The Celica convertible was built by American Sunroof Corporation (ASC) in California."

My brother has been an engineer there in house for about 26 years......

These roofs aren't a Billy Bob Hacksaw job from Bubba in Alabama ;)

I would even argue that the aftermarket kind might be more leak proof than the factory ones based on what I have read. :typing:

I had a aftermarket sunroof put on my Sport 4runner in Oxnard Ca Toyota and never had a issue. It can be done but I would have walked also.

I'd stay far away from an aftermarket sunroof & I'd stay even farther away from Waldorf Toyota. How the hell did the sales guy not know about this??!!?

Lot of internet lore here about aftermarket sunroofs.

I’d bet 99% of the tinfoil hats in here have never had a car with one, never known anybody with one, or have ever had one installed.

Of course it’s the internet, so likely all of the above are wrong and I’m a dick.

Enjoy the truck OP. Try not to step in any bullshit!

I won’t touch it cause I have no clue who or what company did the conversion.
That is probably the reason the previous owner traded it in...
Went off roading and realized he made a mistake by putting in a aftermarket sunroof .....and traded it in! Lol.

Us PRO owners only offroad at the mall. Due to the covered parking lot of our offroading surface, sunroof flex can't be tested.

I had a Camry with a factory sunroof ...and when it was new ..it would squeak and rattle when it got cold in the morning ...and that was a factory sunroof ..
They had to replace the whole frame with the glass ..
Cost them $1500 with labor ....Toyota covered it ..of course !

I can’t imagine what you would do if you had the same problem....
I can bet that that is what happened after the install...
Took it off trail , and the previous owner couldn’t stand the noise the sunroof was making .

I cancelled it but it was a tough decision. Very tough. Probably just wait for a 2018 then or go around locally to find a steal in a 2017 OR...

My new camry never went off road either ...and the squeaking in the chilly mornings was driving me nuts ...

My wife said to just crank up the radio.....yeah ...but I wasn’t going to spend $35k...let alone $45k to have a squeaking car ...sorry !

My 16 4Door had the moonroof option. Had 0 problems.

My 1992 ACS Integra, aftermarket sunroof had 0 problems in 8 years.

Lots of posts of exploding OEM sunroof on Acura forums.

If its a good aftermarket sunroof (I am fine with it). Our of 43 vehicles, my PRO is my first NON sunroof car. I never had rattles/squeaks/leaks with any of mine.

Sorry to hear of your problems.

Glad you were able to be decisive about not getting it. Why do you say getting a steal on a '17TRD-OR? The OR is already like $6-8,000 less than a PRO .
