So tomorrow I leave my full time job.

    Please provide input!!

    Here's the letter:

Please accept this letter as resignation from my position as Operations Manager of xxxxxxxxx, effective January 19, 2018.

This is an exceptionally unorthodox resignation letter, do read on.

Though my full time employment with xxxxxxxx will be terminated, I will faithfully and happily provide the following services in perpetuity and without compensation:

    · Full time phone, email. and in-person support for everyone in the organization, at any time

    · Continued support to xxxxxxxx as a sales consultant

    · Full review and consultation of all large, complicated, or dare I say, sketchy projects

    · Fabrication and weld inspection, as needed

    · Meetings and consultation with new and current customers (mostly Rich, but lunch is on you)

    · Frequent and continued visits to the shop and office

    · Lifetime consultant work for all aspects of the business (ASME, AWS, ISO, and beyond)

    · Continued support and participation in the Dream It, Do It program

    · Continued training support for xxxxxxx (mostly welding related)

    · 3D Solid modeling support (support will definitely be needed and I'm 3 minutes away)

    · Transportation of parts to and from sub vendors, because I have a trailer, so why not

    · Construction of sawhorse website

Do not think of this as an ending, or a closed door. This is merely a beginning to much bigger things for both of us.

In addition....I feel that it is highly likely that we will collaborate on further business ventures. The experience that I have gained over the last six years has culminated in a vast array of opportunities.

In closing, I would like to enthusiastically thank you for the employment and for the many growth opportunities that you have provided me during my tenure at xxxxxxxxx.

We have only begun to explore our new frontiers....

    With grateful sincerity,
    Me

I will guess the place you are leaving has a pretty relaxed "culture".

    One day notice is harsh.

The resignation letter has a playful tone, and is rather long.

I think there is more than meets the eye here.

    Subbed for the reveal.

    Good luck regardless.

That sure is a lot of free services.
I can't imagine resigning from the place where I currently work and still doing anything once the door hit me in the ass.

Good luck for your future Chad. I like the things you are doing. Hope this means we will see more.

I agree, that's a lot of association when you're trying to move on. Maybe watch out for the legals as you no longer work/represent them. Other than that good luck in your future endeavours. Shine on op!

Thinking he might be turning over the business to his son, and warning him that even after resigning.
That I will be watching to ensure you don' muck.up what I have built.

As for input, tell them no communication for 30 days so they can fully understand how much you are needed and thus ensure a solid collaboration going forward.

I had the same thought, especially with the phone, email, and sales support. Maybe he should weave in the words "consulting sevices" or something a bit more :notsure:

Well that puts this whole thing into a new perspective.

Why bother with anything, they don't give you a 2 week notice or anything else when they fire you.

Stuff people say when they work for crappy employer with low compensation.

A majority of the time when someone is shit canned they know well ahead of time that it's in the mail. Those coaching sessions were not exercises in blowing off steam. Sometimes it's not even a coaching session, I had the vibe at one job that I was going to get canned a month before it happened. The dot bomb bubble just grenaded and business was not doing well.

I agree with some of these guys. It sounds like you are just telling them, that you are working from home now....and for free haha. I actually am a Drafter, CAD Bitch, 3D modeling Guy too. I actually told my previous 2 employers (where i was the lead in the CAD dept) that i would still be available for consultation and help. They do pay me, But i will say it gets a little weird.

    Congrats on the new venture!

Good luck whereever you are headed. That said, offering all of those free services is curious. I get trying to ease the blow or whatever, but legally it may put you in a pickle one day.
