Am I right there's only one usb port for audio on a USB? It's behind the navigation screen. The other two are for phones or other devices.

Only the port behind the 14 inch screen recognizes the usb with music.

Is it possible to play music from a usb flash drive AND also use Apple Carplay with Waze navigation simultaneously ?

I despise iTunes and like the simpler way to load music on a flash drive

Don't know about Carplay or Waze but I use a USB and Android Auto.
Would be simple enough to test. Get a small USB 2.0 thumb drive and adapter to USB C (I've not been able to get USB to work with anything larger than 8GB).

I have a 128GB flash drive in my truck right now. Formatted it to FAT32, copied my music collection over (about 40GB of FLAC files) and it plays fine. I can browse by folder, artist, song, genre, etc from the Toyota screen. I have the 14inch JBL system by the way.

I have the iphone connect via bluetooth and use it for phone calls and texts while playing music on the usb. I have not tried Carplay or other apps.

If one of the USB ports is for audio (behind the Nav screen) and the other two are for phones, I am hoping I can listen to music via the USB for audio port and then connect my phone to one of the other two USB ports. On that phone would be Waze.

The salesperson has no clue if it would be possible. And the salesperson will not let me try that scenario on the showroom model.

Only the port behind the screen works for audio.

But do the other two USB ports allow CarPlay on the nav screen?

Did you use a special utility to do the format? The only options I get are exFAT and NTFS.

There is a program you can use with windows 11 but I cheated and used my Chromebook. It's already an option on that.
