Anybody use one of these to relocate the USB & AUX inputs to the glovebox or somewhere else? Thinking I could just hide and ziptie the factory port behind the console somewhere with this plugged in and route the new port to wherever, also frees up a switch slot for something else. Maybe even add a splitter and run a set of ports to glovebox and a set to rear seats?

I did this. Could have used the one you posted, but used what I had on hand instead. Same result. I only ever use the aux on long road trips to play sound from the iPad in the truck.

I've done this mod twice in the glove box and no extension needed. Now I just leave my iPod connected.
    YES... iPod.

Yes I did scratch the hell out of the plastic surrounding the area.
Shut the glove and not seen.

It's tight but a perfect stretch. No USB errors yet. Never used the AUX.

Did exactly that and dumped it out (that exact extender) into the center console.

The glove box is a good idea...but if it’s tight and you’re moving it when opening you guys think it’ll wear out?

I’d rather keep the stock location and add an additional to either the glove or console. Cabled audio sounds 10x better than Bluetooth.

The relocation requires the connector behind usb to be stretched one time. There are no continued moving parts.
One can slice the tape the wraps around the harness to relieve any tension.
My 16 Tacoma had this mod done holding up my entire ownership without any added stress.

The interior of the glovebox is fixed so it won't be moving if you mount it to the side.

    Absolutely.
It can be like listening to a low vs high bitrate mp3.

No, I just wanted to move the usb over.
Simply cut a hole and relocate.

Dude, I think you've got it figured out. I was thinking about tapping into the wiring from the rear and running something over to the glovebox since, if I so much as touch the usb connector, the ipod disconnects and I have to fiddle with it to get it back.

What did you put in the hole where the usb/3.5mm was originally?
