This fix worked! Bought the USB to USB-C adaptor, then used my iphone 11 cord (usb-c to lightning). I did try re-downloading apple music before the cord fix and it didn't work at all. I haven'd deleted apple music off my phone yet but when I did start the truck up and plug the phone in, it immediately started playing from apple music. I switched to spotify and it played just fine. Audio quality much better than bluetooth! I'll try deleting apple music tomorrow and playing spotify without it. If that doesn't work will report back.

UPDATE... So now it's not working :( I went and bought a cord from Target so that I wouldn't have to take my charging cord to and from the car every time. The cord from Target did not work. I decided I would just use the offbrand cord at home and the Apple cord in the truck and I've not been able to get it to work again. I have no idea what's going on and it's driving me crazy!! I have not gotten rid of apple music. I've tried getting the music to play using apple music first, doesn't work. The only upside is that I can get bluetooth music to play while the phone is charging, which wasn't happening before. It's the strangest thing! This truck was made in 2018 and I can't seem to wrap my head around why the stereo wants an "ipod" when those were hardly a thing anymore by '18...

I don't even see an "itunes music" app in the app store?
