In order to try to reduce my exposure to EM Radiation, I want to connect my phone to my truck's stereo for calls and audio using the USB. 2019 Tacos factory stereos are not compatible with Android Auto or Apple Car play from what I can gather.

I am unable to connect using a USB data cable. Is this because it is impossible, or is it due to some electrical or other fault?

    Thanks!

I used to be able to plug my phone into the usb thing under the radio and get to my music and stuff. this worked with an old ipod nano i had too.

unfortunately, it stopped working sometime this last fall. my gf plugged her phone in, something popped, and it hasn't worked since

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You don't need Carplay or AA for connection. Only one port in the truck is a media port and that is the one under the AC controls. The ones in the center console are only chargers.

Ok. Just had to clarify. You've selected USB as your source?

So USB is not a recognized option when the phone's plugged in. It is not selectable for me.

It should go from grayed out to selectable. I assume you used a known working cable and have no problem with your phones port. Did you buy this truck used?

It's a brand new data cable. I did buy the truck used. I haven't had any other issues with my phone's port. The phone will charge when plugged in. I'll see if the phone's port needs some cleaning, and I'll try to perform a data transfer test on another device.

It sounds like your problem is with the truck. That cable goes up and plugs into the back of the stereo. Either there's something wrong with the port, the cable, or it's not plugged into the stereo.

Have you tried cycling your phone and then unpairing then repairing? Every once in awhile that’s what end up having to do. Then it works fine for several months.

Thank you for taking the time to walk me through your thought process. I'll post here if I ever get this fixed.

Just a few accessories, mud flaps, bed cover , racks, seat covers, ….
I think truck must be in park position , Apple does not allow usb connection while driving.

Thank you. I was in park while trying to achieve connection so I don't think that's it.

No not blue tooth , using the port with a usb cable. You can always try spraying some contact cleaner in the port and see if that helps.
