Hello everyone, Got a 2015 SR5,the USB port charges but doesn't recognize my phone. Before I bring it to "Toyoda" and get a headache is there anything I should know about this. I'm thinking
since its charging but not talking to the radio or aka ENtune system, it may be a defective USBport.
USB port prompt is available on radio but will not engage when selected when USB port cable is connected to port and phone and Bluetooth is disconnected. Whatever it is its on them . Hope its not the unit but if it is well oh happy day!

Great I am an ASE tech. Its a Samsung S6. Everything else works. When I connect the USB cable to port to allow the steering wheel control button to let my voice command select a song from the phone the response from the radio is the port is busy or not connected. The port does charge the phone so its connected . The port appears to be a cheaply made one. Didn't pull radio and run check if its getting signal . Its under warranty so I 'm leaving it up to you guys.

Heck was just looking at the AllData on this job quite a bit of trim to remove. But I think you can pull out USB Port from front to see if radio wire is properly installed. Otherwise who ever gets this job is not gonna like me too much.......... lol

I just did some testing. Hooked up an iPhone 4s via USB (2015 HD radio), showed up on the radio just fine. Selected and played music.
Hooked up a Galaxy S6. Phone showed charging, truck radio showed nothing.

Tried the same tests on my 2013 Venza (JBL Entune radio), same results.

I think Toyota needs to recognize that other companies other than the "I" people make phones.

I have a similar issue. Bought my '15 in July. iPhone 5S worked great in charging and playing music through USB. When I would have plugged phone in, the symbol for USB on screen would light up and charging symbol on phone would come on. I upgraded to iPhone 6 Plus last month. Now the truck recognizes the phone randomly. I have tried several Apple cords. It isn't the cord. So today I was driving with my girl and did an experiment. I plugged in my phone and when it didn't work I unplugged it and plug in her 5S...same results. It did not turn on. Any clues? And when it doesn't turn on, it also does not charge.

Was informed by Toyota Service Manager, that there is a soft ware update that ONLY Toyota can preform which will permit my Samsung S6 to be recognized via Bluetooth or the USB Port.

I have the 2016 SPORT TRD, DCAB, 6SPD, Premium Audio w/ NAV.... it's works OK.... not the best with Samsung S5 phone. I can only connect the phone through Bluetooth. USB does not connect the phone to the system without Bluetooth activated in the phone. if Bluetooth is not activated there is no connection at all, the phone is not recognized by the system. However it does charge. I'm not sure if there is an issue with the phone or the HU. In my wife's subaru with the same phone I can do mirror link, thru USB with no issues & the Bluetooth works great as well..... anyone experience this?

I have an upcoming service on this issue w/ Toyota they said it should work thru USB lets see what happens.

Toyota flops again..... they can not understand why the USB does not recognize the Samsung S5 phone. The Head unit is made by Panasonic but there is no software upgrade at this time. So they are blaming the phone or cable (never the vehicle). They did say there is a history of issues associated with Samsung products and their vehicles but there is nothing they can do at this time to correct the situation.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm having a similar issue with my Iphone 6S, if I start the truck with the phone plugged in it won't recognize it, I have to start the truck, let the radio boot up completely and complete bluetooth pairing and then connect it, and even then sometimes it won't work.

I prefer using it plugged in to not only charge the phone but music sounds better than over bluetooth.

Anyone else with this issue or a solution?

I have been having the same issue with my Samsung S6. It was working fine for a long time. Then from one day to the next, l have been unable to connect via bluetooth, and the usb port doesn't recognize a usb for music, which it had done before. Both malfunctioned at the same time. Is there a fuse that could have been blown?

    Thanks

I got my 15' this past November and everything worked fine up until a few weeks ago with my iPhone 6 and now my iPhone 6s. I'll put the cable in the USB port and nothing happens. I'm going to the dealership this Tuesday. Will let you know what I find out.

Took her in this morning. They said they found nothing wrong when the guy plugged his stuff up. Could be my cords. Gunna buy a new one and see when I get her back. Getting a new tire and alignment done
