Hey guys, I’m wondering if it’s possible to replace the media USB to a USB-C. And still be functional for my Apple CarPlay. All my charging cards for my iPhone are USB-C. Here’s a pic. Thanks in advance.

My connector has issues. I tend to have to disconnect and reconnect the usb cable in order for my car play to work which get annoying. I’ve tried switching the cable and no luck.

The usb c is better than the standard usb for transferring data.

As mentioned above, you will not see any improvement in performance by switching the connector itself. The host device(Headunit) must be capable of the better transfer speeds, its not.

If the stock connector is flakey it may cause connection issues, but its probably just the Toyota carplay being not a great experience

Ok cool. Wasn’t sure if the adapters would still work for CarPlay. Thanks

Yea I could. But was just asking if it’s possible to switch them out. I’m gonna be adding some USB-C chargers for the rear seats so thought I would ask.

Not looking for improvements in performance. Just thought it would be a cleaner install. Rather than use a USB to USB-C adapter.

    you can use an adapter.

or you could just buy one of many widely available usb-a to lightning cables. they've been the standard for many years. no adapter required.

Here is a good cable that might suit your needs. The USB-C connector has wiring that is backwards compatible with the older style USB port so there is no loss of quality. They designed it like this so the new cable could support the bazillion devices that use the older connector
