    Don't worry, I'm still here!

I will be discontinuing this service, unfortunately.

My full time job has grown into a much more time consuming endeavor and my free time has been extremely marginalized lately, so I won't be doing this type of side work anymore.

All current orders will still be filled, and I'm close to having them all ready to ship. I'll post pictures to commemorate the completion of the final production batch of these awesome niche products.

Oh wow. I can appreciate being busy at work, I've been putting in 12+ hours for the past few weeks too. I just hadn't heard anything from you in a while and just wanted to make sure you were doing ok. I guess it's a good thing your busy, as long as you enjoy the work. I'm glad I finally pulled the trigger on this, I had been thread stalking for about a year before finally reaching out.
Well, like I said in the beginning I'm not in a rush, so work on my kit when you have time and I look forward to seeing the final product. Thanks.

Anyone here with this setup + Sony GS radio having the radio get extremely hot after prolonged use? Went on a road trip over the weekend and had the stereo on for a good 6 hours, removed the iPad and the entire unit was almost scorching hot (not just on the heat sink).

Does anyone have a write up???
I am having. Issues putting the brackets on the Sony piece. The bolts that come with the Sony piece do not work because they are not long enough and those that come with the oem system don't work because they do not have the same kind of point

2nd gens are better, change my mind.
Had the same problem with the Sony HU bolts. What I did was drill out a larger hole in those oval shaped holes. Not too big for the head of the bolt to fit through. Then used an impact and jammed those babies tight. I've been meaning to try to go to hardware store to find out size and thread of those bolts and get a bigger size, but haven't had time.

They are just regular machine screws. Picked some up today from Home Depot. Got some that where 3/8 and some that where 1/2 going to see which fit best in there.

I used a set of Metra single din mounts for the deck, I trimmed the brackets down and modified the holes so the radio face sits at a downwards angle. It takes some tweaking to get right but the iPad will clear the deck. You can angle is less but you won't have access to the rca ports on the back. I can upload some pictures soon if you'd like.

I have managed to hook everything up. But my steering controls do not work, and my satellite radio isn't working either. I am assuming I have to do some trimming too because the iPad dash kit won't clip at the top... Anyone got any input on this?

Has Shane not replied to any messages you've sent him? What year is your Tacoma? On my 2012 you need to take out the dash bezel itself and trim out part of the top bezel backing with a dremel for it to sit flush. Did you get his complete wiring kit? For my SWC I had to initiate the automatic configuration for it to work properly. Send me a pm and I can send you pictures and help answer questions if you'd like.

Also, in order to retain XM I'm pretty sure you'll need to purchase an external tuner for the Sony head unit and get an adapter that allows your shark fin antenna wire to plug into the XM device. Or use the supplied antenna with the tuner kit.

Yep! Figured that one out, I actually ended up taking my truck to a Car Toys (audio/speaker/accessory car shop) I let them finish the instal so I could get the steering wheel controls to work. But nope Shane never responded. Someone said he was out of town this weekend. That might be why.

Glad you got it figured out, it's pretty sweet once it's all working and setup properly right? I have dash command as well, a bunch of streaming apps, waze, etc. I went ahead and jail broke my mini 4, I'm using the tool Activator to automatically unlock/lock/play/pause audio depending if the truck is on or off. I also highly recommend installing f.lux if you can jailbreak. It changes the color of the iPad display based on time of day to reduce strain on your eyes by removing part of the blue spectrum. I also am running a custom Winterboard theme and increased text size for ease of viewing. afa6abdbaab810f6cc22d49543b85a11_ec8e6e550c2ce25d1c2d221c6511e1af9d935139.jpg
