Nice! Not all head units will support separate a2dp and hands free bluetooth connections.

Would you be able to run Google Maps via a hotspot? How would playing music from your iPhone work? Will the USB/aux plugs in the 2012+ models still work?

    Great idea/product!

Yes on google maps. I can make the factory USB & Aux work for playing music through your phone. You can also play music through your phone over Bluetooth if you go with the Sony head unit I mentioned before.

So just to clarify, for the Sony unit to allow Bluetooth music & phone, am/fm radio, USB/aux integration, and pre-wired for steering controls is $360?

Everything ships so that all i have to do is remove current unit, plug in sony unit, new trim piece(s) & ipad and I'm good to go?

I will have to test my integration method for the factory AUX/USB to make sure that what I am thinking will work without extra parts. If it does require extra parts, the added cost will be no more than $30. Other than that, you will want to mount the microphone for the Sony Bluetooth somewhere. I can provide thorough instructions for this part. There is no good way for me to integrate your factory microphone with a plug and play kit. That would require special wiring done in the truck.

But other than those 2 things, yes, it is a plug and play slam dunk.

I can definitely retain the Factory AUX at no extra cost. The USB input is still up in the air, but since that Sony radio has dual USB inputs, I'm pretty confident that it should only take a USB AB Cable to make it work. Will explore this option in the near future.

Also, when priced out on Crutchfield, all of the items needed to piece together the head unit and wiring add up to $275 (Yes, the install kit and wiring harness are free from them). That is to say, for only $85 more than what you would normally pay, I am wiring, programming SWC , creating a 'plug and play' kit, testing and shipping it to you.

The problem is I don't have (or plan to have) an Android tablet to create templates with. And there are too many different Android tablets out there. I could make templates and jigs to build kits for them, but I don't think they would be as popular.

Hmmmm....This is great and I like the idea but I hate APPLE (Not trying to debate but owning a droid is great!) Would it be possible to send in my Tab as a jig?

I can look up dimensions and create a jig of the tablet. This being a special request, I'll have to wait until I finish preparing the 2005-2011 iPad mini kits for production before I get to it. Feel free to email me and we can work out timing / pricing.

Sounds good Shane. Gotta get a few more mods out of my way first but we will be in contact.

After some research, I have discovered that retaining the factory AUX and USB is very easy to do. Also, for those of you who currently have a stock stereo, and would like to have an iPad in dash, I have come up with a much more affordable solution than replacing with an aftermarket unit with custom wiring and all of that blah blah blah.

If your stock stereo has a USB input, let's just use that for the iPad and you will retain all other functions that you have become accustomed to, with extremely minimal work. There is only one cable that you need which costs $10, and you will have to re-mount your radio to the factory brackets so that it sits back in the dash, allowing the iPad to cover it up.

I'm in for hearing more on the retaining the stock radio. I have a 2014 -nav and -jbl. and would want to keep the stock dash just recessing it and somehow fabricating an Android (Tab3) in there instead of a IPad. Ill worry about the Android but the rest ummmm yeah

I would be first in line for that one

I'll check out the dimensions on the tab 3 and see if I can do it. Downside is that I cannot check fitment since I don't have a tab 3
