Looking at purchasing the above and it does have 4Wd.

Do the V6’s have a timing belt or chain and does it need changed out at 100k ? How about the rest transmission, tranfercase, rear axle? Just wondering if I need save up some cash?
    Thanks in advance.

    Still thinking about it.
It has a timing chain, and 100k is no problem as long as it’s had a few oil changes. Same goes for the rest of the truck. These things work well for a long time as long as they get a little maintenance and aren’t badly abused. You can probably tell by looking at it and driving it. If it seems nice, it’s probably good.

Great, the dealer has serviced the transmission, replaced brakes and tires. It has 89,210 miles and been taken care of by the dealer from day one.

Perfect, 2015 is a solid truck. Just gotta do spark plugs every 30k or switch to iridiums.

Doesn’t seem too far off, price wise. Hard to judge these days with everything going so high.

2nd gen tacoma's (and all gens) hold their value so well it's insane. I bought at 2013 with 72k miles for ~$23k

You should buy @Unchained 5150 's instead and get a hell if a lot more for your money. His is a 2015 and heavily modded....as well as very well maintained and never seen a trail.

Ask the Toyota service desk to run the VIN then have them print out the service history. This will only cover dealer work. DIY work is a dice roll.

Suggest to look at and understand the service record. The service record will have details of all Recalls, TSBs, warranty work......

Change fluids (engine oil, power steering, diffs, xfer case, brake, coolant, tranny w/filter), spark plugs, Serp belt +pulleys. The service intervals will be in Owner's Manual. Doing all this work would essentially "reset" the service interval to 0 (zero).

This thing is a steal! If it’s still around after the first of the year I may make a trip up there.

That may be the problem. My guess is most people like to buy as close to stock as possible so they can do their own customization.

I think the problem is your stripe kits, IMO.

Would be 10 min well spent to remove them, someone either has to love it or they’re going to see it as a job they have to do to remove them and that changes perceived value. Personalized touches don’t have wide appeal.
