Used ARE cap price?

What is a good condition ARE CX cap for 6 foot bed worth to you, if you were buying? High end low end? I’m selling mine for $1,000 and have a lot of interest but nobody is forking over any money.

 

I paid 500 for my leer 100R with carpeted headliner, dome light, 50/50 sliding windows, and thule roof racks/rails. I wouldve paid up to 750 or so. It was also the wrong color when i got it so had to dish out some more to paint match it

 

1000 is fair, I would go as low as 800 if you are in a hurry. Less 6' beds around than 5'.

 

How fast do you want to sell it?

If you hold on someone who has just looked at a new one from the dealer will buy it. Bargain hunters will wait for a price around $500. So the decision depends on if you need to sell it quickly, or if you can wait for your price.

 

Where are you and what color is it?

 

I paid $400 for my ARE CX on CL. Good condition with locks and keys. matched color too.

I paid $1000 for my ARE with Yakima core bars.

 

I bought my Leer 100xr 6ft cap used in white (same as my truck). Has the carpeted interior, sliding tinted/screened windows all the way around, locks, etc.. and not a scratch on it. I paid $1100. I thought that was fair

 

I sold my loaded MX with walk-in hatch/door for $1200. I probably could've held out and gotten $1500 (the dude who bought it said he just wanted *a cap*, no idea why he was willing to pay for so much) but I just wanted it gone and $$$ in my hand.

I'd be thrilled to get a grand for what you got, but personally I think it's high. Not that it's not a bargain compared to new, just that it seems pretty common to be trying for that much, unless you're willing to wait for the stars to align. I priced mine on CL at the upcharge for the walk-in door if you bought a new one, from what I found.

 

paid 500 for a nice carpeted one with rack and domelight. I generally will only pay around 500 for them. i have done that 3 times now lol

 

$1k is fair to someone actually wanting one. New caps are $2k+ now, so as long as it's not cracked it's still a good deal even if it needs to be repainted.

But, I think a lot depends on where you're at. I'm in TN and everyone has a 5 foot bed and no one has a cap; it'd be a tough sell here. In CO I see a lot more 6 foot beds with caps because people sleep in them when hiking/fishing/hunting.
