Someone was selling a decent looking set of 2.5” coil overs and rear shocks both with reservoirs. I was intrigued by the good price but didn’t pull the trigger because I’m not sure what to look for on a used set. I know I can rebuild them if it comes to that but I’d there anything that I should pay closer attention to???

Buying used coilovers can be risky. Depending on the price, sometimes it's more of a headache than buying brand new. Factor in rebuild, revalve, shipping, spring rates, reservoir brackets, confirm vehicle fitment etc...

I would check the shafts to make sure there are no dings or imperfections. Basic rebuild can be done cheap, but replacing shafts will get pricey.

I try/tend to buy from people I know or kind of know. Helps to determine whether to believe what I am being told/sold.
