I am going to look at this tacoma today.
    https://www.carsforsale.com/vehicle/details/67432977
    It's 2009 TRD sports with 200116miles asking $11500
The exterior and interior pictures look nice for the year and mileage but it's been on the lot for about 3 months and that make me wonder if there is something wrong.

I have the Autocheck report and it's clean title with no accidents and such and one owner but it's from Canada.

If a vehicle is from Canada, any accident or other issues be reported to Autocheck?
If the vehicle has open recall, does it mean that the vehicle has to be taken to Canadian dealership?

Are Canadian Tacomas made same as US ones?

What should I watch out for when I check and test drive the truck?

1st thing, find out where in Canada it came from. If it came from an area where they salt the roads there will be frame rust. However, since it’s for sale in Michigan, the local trucks may not be any better.

Now, the sticky part. Since it’s a ‘09, it’s in the 11th hour for a free frame replacement under the WEP. It may even be too late. Even if it is still within the 12 years from date of 1st use, getting inspection and approval is going to be somewhere between very difficult/expensive and impossible. It has to be inspected/approved in Canada. The Canadian customs won’t let you drive up there due to Covid. My Canadian Taco is all set to have the frame replaced in Canada. It’s going to cost me about $1,000 to have a commercial shipper transport the truck just across the border, and back across the border after the swap.

You get a vehicle buyers package when you purchase from Canada . Its a mandatory document showing how many owners , how many accidents etc . The seller is responsible for purchasing the buyers package from a drivers and vehicles office for $25 bucks
Keep in mind that your speedo will be in kilometers rather than MPH .
The truck would have to look and drive like new . Way too much red tape to go through in my opinion .
Dont feel bad though , its far worse for a Canadain to purchase a vehicle in the states .
If you dont own a camp or a home in Canada , chances are , you will be turned away at the border

    It's from Ontario.
So the getting any recall service done is pretty much impossible...

If everything checks out, Do you think $11500 is a good price for it?

I would never buy a 10 year old truck that lived its life in Ontario. I've seen the shape vehicle's are in that came from out east and yikes. Unless the underside is so clean you can eat off it.

Kinda pricey and a lot of mileage for a truck from Ontario with a rusted out frame .
Ask for pictures of the frame .

Canada? Rust. DRL's. Wax and stick tape residue from hockey sticks being shoved in the cab and rubbing the glass. Extensive wear in the turn signals if they only used factory fluid.

Much of Ontario salts the roads and some of the most rusted undercarriages you will see are from there.

If it’s 11k CAD it’s a good deal. If it’s 11k USD then it’s too much for a 200k mile truck. Che k to see if it’s 200k kilometers instead of miles.

Its very easy to buy a vehicle in the states and bring it back to Canada, my brother bought his truck in Arizona and drove it home. As long as it's built in North America its easy.

I live in Dallas, Texas. My local Toyota dealer told me they get frequent buyers from Canada looking for good used Tacomas that have been driven in the south. They fly down, buy 'em and head home. I would not buy a used Tacoma from Canada.

Dealer called me before I hit the road and told me it's sold. I asked how much it went for. He said 11k.
