I'm in the market for a used Tacoma in Portland, OR. My question is I see that posted prices for used taco's are way above bluebook by both owners and dealers. I understand they are great trucks but I see prices 50% over bluebook, are people really getting these asking prices?
    What's your experience?

No people are not. For a 2nd 50% over blue book would be more then a brand new truck.

i'd say 12-14K. check ebay completed listings to get an idea. a lot have not sold, but the few that did were in the 12500 range.

    See build thread.
Yeah that is waaay to high. I'm thinking about selling mine for 13050. Somewhere in that area. But I think thats a good price for the low miles it has and the condition its in. So there are good deals out there just keep looking.

I looked at a 2001 crew cab 4 banger last month with the CEL on and a good size dent on the bed and he was asking 13K. Book value around here was around 9k in good condition. He didn't like it too much when I told him/showed him his price was way too high. Wound up getting a 2005 DC LB with 107K on it for 12,500 in good condition. So, yes, I would say that your example is way too high.

    Rain Visors,
I paid $17,200 for my 2006 AC TRD-OR with a 6speed. Owner had EVERY maintence record from the day he bought it, And I picked it up last feb, with 40.200 Miles...

He was going to loose it though if someone didn't buy it, and it had a few scuffs, dings, nothing huge, and nothing compared to what I've done to it so far.

That is what I paid for my 06 TRDOR SR5 with 40k miles in immaculate shape.... look around. Good deals are everywhere, but so are the Mr. Crabs of the world.

Seems like the 2001 to 2004 models are nearly as much as 2nd gen Tacoma. Obviously, the price will vary region to region. PAC NW will likely have the highest prices. I am going to be selling my 2003 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Xtra Cab for 13k - pretty much the going rate. The 2nd gens are everywhere. Seems as though a surplus of those. Plus, any 1st generation at a dlr auction either has a problem or is gold in color. :D
