Last March (3/2010) I bought my 2008 DC used, with 28K miles on it and paid $23K. It was a CPO vehicle purchased from a Toyota dealer.

I just checked on the Kelly Blue Book Web site and the private party price for the same vehicle is now $24K, or $26K from a dealer, and that with 46K miles on it, which is what I have on my truck now.

I've never seen the value of a used vehicle go up.

I just bought my '07 DC TRD with 74K from a dealer for $23K, I couldn't believe the prices on these were still so high.

KBB is pretty good at over-stating the actual prices that you can get, but even with that, used vehicle prices have been going through the roof over the last 1-2 years. I've been looking around at used vehicles for my son and the prices are getting ridiculous, especially for anything reasonably reliable and with decent gas milage,,, bend over and smile :)

1 month ago I traded by '05 DC TRD Auto (purchased used in early '06 with 14K miles for $27,500) for a '10 DC TRD/Sport Auto w/ 21K miles for $4,600 difference. I felt I got a super deal!

KBB is telling me my 2006 AC OR PR is only worth about 14k with 72k on it as a tradein, or 16k private party. I think this is about where it was at when I was thinking about selling it 5 months ago.

With the economy in the tank and with no signs of improvement likely to arrive in the next year or two years, the value of used stuff will go up.

On the average people have less money to spend right now, which sends them onto used car lots instead of new car lots.

Honestly you're better off buying the tacoma new. The used values are so darn high you are better buying new and having the price drop 2k in the next 50k miles you put down.
