Check for frame rust. Check that hood is secured.

Check that 3rd brake light for leaks. Wish I had known about it before purchase but it got fixed under warranty. Listen for any noises coming from the body mounts. Go from park to drive move forward a lil bit then do the same thing in reverse. Hang your head out the drivers side window and listen for a creaking sound. Also the satellite radio reception is not very good I lose signal quite a bit. Just a few issues I've encountered.

I wouldn't spend that much money for something with 80,000 miles on it. I bought my 2016 DCSB TRD offroad with 8,000 miles on it in early 2017 for 32,000.

This is what happened to me. Giving me prices on used trucks and for a few more thousand bucks I was able to get a new truck for myself. Unless you are getting a great deal I would look to buy new. Trading your car in will be tricky also. I never mention my trade in until I get the OTD price on the vechile I am trying to purchase. I sell my ride on my own because the dealers will not give you a fair price. You asked and we all are giving you suggestions. The truck you are buying is great looking, just go slow if you are still leaning towards used. My 2 cents is all, but new will always be my path.

In March 2018, I found a 2017 Off-Road demo unit in Niagara Falls for 38k. It had the tonneau on it, and only had 600km on the odometer. Basically brand new (previous model year), but didn't have to pay freight since it was 'used'. I drove to Brockville (I live in Ottawa) where they had the exact same truck but new (still 2017). Got them to match the price and add the tonneau. Essentially getting the demo unit but new, for the same price. I'd have driven to Niagara had they not matched though.

I paid 38k (pre-tax) for mine brand new, with a tonneau installed, and got Freight/PDI waived.
MSRP + Freight was + tonneau was ~$46k for it all.
    Saved about $9,000 after taxes

I looked for 5-6 months before finding a good deal. If you have patience, you'll find one too.
That said, maybe this used one is a good deal. IDK.

In January 2018, I bought a brand new 2017 Off-Road, since the 2018's were coming out, and paid $40k

With that price I got the soft Top Tonneau cover, Pro Grill, Tub mats and Winter tire/rim package thrown in.

Sorry for the delay - decided against the blue Tacoma - truck had no leaks, drove fine, but I did not feel right about it. The service history had huge gaps, and not sure if trans fluid was ever changed.

I will keep looking, but long bed is mandatory - thinking manual will be mandatory too.

    Thanks.

    A few.
Nice looking Tacoma. You can find them with less miles depending on what the asking price is. I seen quite a few 16's and 17's with 30-35k miles around my area.

Im dumping it before or when powertrain warranty expires. The MDS system is fsilure prone, its so bad that there is a backlog for lifters when they fail.

And i dont need a fullsize anymore...

I just traded my 2014 ram1500 for my Tacoma 3 months ago. Had 62k miles on it. Like you I liked the truck but didn't have confidence in it over the long term. Your right about the resale value on a Ram. Since your looking to buy I used Tacoma, If I was you, I would try to find one at a Dodge dealer. They will likely give you a better price for your Ram on a trade.

Thanks x I never thought of trading at a Ram dealer - will defintely keep my eyes peeled.

I have 53,000 km/33,125 miles - 4 recalls, fuel lines replaced under warranty and an abs module replaced under warranty.

So yeah, will send it packing before I have to start paying for repairs.

That's a ton of mileage! I'm going tomorrow to look at and probably buy a 2014 with 48000 miles. That's 3 years older and about half the miles!
