That is not a bull bar lol. That sir a complete bumper replacement and while can be used for incidents involving animals, it is made for overlanding/off-roading. Not so much a safety net for animals, although plenty of people seem to pay over $1k just for that.

I have always called them bullbars as ARB does and the other style is really a grille guard, if it extends over the headlights it is a grille/brush guard. Not an actual bullbar. Those tube things that are just for show, shouldn't be called bullbars, imo...since they don't have an actual function, unlike the push bars
    found on cop cars.

I had a blue set and a chrome set on my Accord in the early 2000's. Both sets were stolen. They cost me $2.99 each. On my STi the tire place installed a neat chrome set that said nitrogen on them. Those were stolen too out of the commuter lot I parked in.

Since then I refuse to have nice ones. People are terrible.

It’s very simple, just use this rule.
If it only mounts from the bottom, (under the bumper) then it’s fucking useless.
In you pictures, that would be the “douche bar” and the “grille / brush guard”.
If it mounts to the bumper & mounting, or mounts under the bumper and above the bumper, then it has some purpose.
I’ve seen some well designed “douch bars” and “grill / brush guards” that would take a hit, but the vast majority of them are simply useless, maybe take a baby squirrel out, but that’s about it. If they only mount from under the bumper, then there is simply no way they can take any form of knock.
