I won't use a strap or chain without a D ring holding it on! S#it gets sketchy when hear that rope stretch!

I bought this recovery strap instead of the ARB one listed above: https://www.amazon.com/Tow-strap-Re...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=8SQ0YADQXV5VDK9JWM2F
    - wider (3 inches vs 2 3/8")
    - higher breaking strength (30,000lbs vs. 17,500lbs)
    - half the price ($30 vs $60)

Also have the same smittybilt hitch d-ring as mentioned above. Note: my shackle (on the smittybilt d-ring) was tight, but still managed to vibrate loose and fall off the truck. Only found it by accident. Since then I zap-strap the "bolt" to ensure it doesn't go anywhere (and will cut off the zap-strap when/if I need to use the shackle).

I want something like one of these receiver D ring mounts, but I'm afraid around my area the D-ring will go missing on short notice. I have a military strap rated for 44,000lbs from my old M923A2(5-ton cargo truck) that I'd use. These reportedly hold much much more than their rating.

I keep my D ring in the truck makes it a lot easier to get on and off since it doesn't get rust welded lol

That's more a tow strap than a snatch strap. A seller even mentions that it doesn't stretch as much as a snatch strap.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
There was nothing smart about that charging pull.

    Just saying.

Noobie here. Where can we find the rating of the recovery points on the truck? I have a 2016 taco sr with a tow hitch. I'm under the impression that the recovery points themselves have a rating, in addition to the accessories such as receivers/shackle mounts and shackles themselves. Just wondering in the event I need to pull people out this winter.

There are no points on Tacomas that are rated for recoveries per se. The tow hitch is rated to tow a 6500lb trailer, and the tow hook on the front is for towing short distances on a level surface, per the manual. That said people including myself use these to recover from.

    This is what I bought:

It's not meant for a lot of stretch but also stronger than the basic tow straps I see for sale all over the place. It's polyester (11% elongation).

That is simple if you have a simple inline pull. However those are the exception as generally when I have recovered the pull is at an angle, which would cause the hitch to cut into the strap

For those with a Sport who don't have the giant hook in the front, you can use this to use a shackle. There's a small loop on the passenger side, but it's not meant for tough recoveries. This bolts up in place of it.

When pulling another vehicle out with a recovery strap do you use 2hi,4hi, or 4lo?
