I think its for when they install the part, the lube is for when you need to run to the bathroom because BroHo in waiting room.. or for 2nd gen owners when a 3rd gen TRD pulls into shop you can run over and get a rubby on.....just sayin.

    o_O why?
You are going to have to sell the truck and get one without it, if that's what you want.

As I understand it you don't use crawl AFTER you get stuck...you use it before. If you are stuck use the winch and 4wd low to get out, or another truck. crawl control takes over throttle and everything right? my truck has it but I can't imagine ever using it...my brain > truck brain I could be missing something though

I saw that but my opinion is that a staged "demonstration" =/= reality...especially when it isn't done by the manufacturer.

I've seen reviews of the system but they all engaged it BEFORE encountering the tough terrain. Not saying the part should have failed...just saying I wouldn't put all the blame on it. If this was me...I'd be blaming myself not crawl control. Now if you can find TOYOTA making such claims, buried in the sand and crawl will get you out no problems...hey I'll admit I was wrong...but I don't think the system was meant for that is what I'm getting at

So I think we should discuss the large elephant in the room, the front Automatic Differential Disconnect vacuum line that op reported broken is actually a breather line. The ADD on the Tacoma are electric actuated or did something change in the 3rd gen?

I get what you’re saying but this is a good example of having your cake and eating it too on the part of Toyota. That feature was heavily used as a sales point during my visit to the dealer prior to buying. They knew I was looking for an off road capable truck because that’s what I told them. I had never even heard of CC prior to visiting them to look at the ‘19’s. I was driving my twelve year old Tundra at the time.

edited to add that they (dealership) steered me specifically towards those videos on Youtube as an example of the Off road’s capability.

After he broke the breather (at some point), possibly sand or water was ingested into the actuator which disabled it. It FEELS like a classic 'not 100% of the story', but who knows.
