Wool Wax smells better than Fluid Film too.

Imo, all these rust inhibitors work ok, just come down to how many times you need to have them reapplied to be effective. I'm lazy and don't like to keep spending money on the same thing.

When people state you need to reapply it yearly, I think they should also state that you really only have to hit the high-wash areas. If you hit it really good the first time, these products absolutely last for years in the sports not hit directly by forceful water. That makes these products really low maintenance for a big return on protection.

Yeah but how much does a new Toyota truck cost each time we buy one every 15 or so years? My 2006 Truck would have lasted longer had I used Woolwax once a year on the bottom. My 2006 Truck was only 21,000 or so dollars and when I bought my 2022 truck recently which is basically the same trim level (barebones as they sell) the damn truck cost 29,000 plus tax, tag and title.

Woolwax is only 60 dollars for 4 cans a year. At least use it on your frame, rocker panels, and anything on the bottom of truck or inside wheel wheels and you may get years longer out of your truck. How damn much more expensive is a barebones truck going to cost the next time we have to buy them? 50,0000?

Buying 2 sets of 4 cans of Woolwax a year would be worth it if you have lots of rain and salt in the air from the ocean like I do.

Exactly. The first time spraying is definitely the most time consuming and important application. When I FF’d my new truck I bought a 5 gallon spray kit, jacked up all four corners, took my time and spent a few hours removing plugs and parts to make sure I sprayed everywhere (in body and frame and suspension cavities, above heat shields, in and around spare tire mechanism, behind tail lights, inside engine bay and fenders, etc)
Now each Fall I roll under the truck for less than 30 mins just to touch up any dry looking areas......

I think it even more depends where you drive the truck. During much of the year our roads get quite a bit of water on them. We have some real slushy winters with lots and lots of salt that make any vehicle look white. I did the fluid flim routine every fall on my tundra...by spring it'd be mostly washed away. You live in a warm climate with lower humidity, probably a different outcome.

Fluid film definitely doesn't dry, I have left a can open for 3 years now and its still the same as when I opened it.

Does Woolswax stay wet? Does it drip in your garage and absorb dirt and rocks? Not sure I would like that even if it prevents rust.

ya it stays wet. It won't drip though unless you over apply it, but that can be said about any undercoat.

It definitely attracts dirt and turns the underside of your truck into a grimy mess if you live or drive on dirt roads. Still worth it to me.

the dirt helps it resist washing off though, and its definitely better than rust.

Depending on the temperature sprayed on, fluid flim does dry on the chassis to a semi hard finish to encapsulate any rust from getting worse, at least every time i've used it. Seems in hotter weather a surface with fluid flim surface sort of melts becoming greasy. Cosmoline drys to a semi tougher waxy finish, and stays that way.

I do it every single year, zero hint of rust/corrosion here in PA in the rust belt.

When i leave my house i have to drive 2 miles on a crummy dirt road back and forth every time. The deep mud and water holes when using fluid flim didn't do me any favors. When the under side of the truck would dry out days later you couldn't if i fluid filmed the chassis or not. At any rate after 19 years the frame was still all there, pretty rusty but intact. So far with doing the tacoma with cosmoline 2 years its way better. You could when the chassis dries all the cosmoline is still intact, not a speck of rust starting.

winter at 2 degrees f and its still not hard, there just aren't any solvents or drying agents in fluid film. It does not become semi hard. Its attracts dirt and dust and can form kind of a grimy paste but that's about it.

I don't know what you were using but fluid film is chemically incapable of get hardening, I use rattle cans to do touch up every year and once the aerosol boils out its identical to what I have left in my gallon can.

Idk, always bought it at lowes...fluid flim. It would dry overnight by the next morning it'd be pretty hardened up.
