    Hi,
I expect my 2022 SR/SX to be available this week or next, without the optional bed lights. Soon after, I'll be ordering the Leer 180. From what I've read so far, even though I didn't order the optional bed light, the wiring harness is still present from behind the driver side tail light all the way to the area close to the cabin fuse box.
If this is so about the harness already being there, what would be the downside of using that harness to power after market bed lighting, along with the cap light, and connecting directly to the fuse box so I could have the light switch in the bed of the truck and not in the cabin? Thanks.

You might want to double-check about the harness if what you're talking about is the plug-n-play harness for the OEM bed lights that is behind the tail lights on the 2020 and 2021 trucks. I believe there was a member that had a thread not too long ago that said he couldn't find the harness, and when he posted pics it wasn't there. It was there on my 2021. Also keep in mind that harness is wired to the bed light switch in the cab if you do have it.

On the "build your Toyota" site, my configuration doesn't show the switch in the pictures. I just got the call from the dealer a few minutes ago that my truck is in, so I should know for sure sometime today.
Figuring that it doesn't have the switch made me think of just using the wiring to tap into the fuse box so I could have a switch in the bed.

Cool that's exciting! Congrats on the wait being over :) If they have a service writer who is actually worth something he/she could probably tell you how they do bed lights on your trim level, and that will give you an idea how to proceed. Usually they are helpful when you are taking delivery of a new vehicle - they want you to come for service :)

Oh and I forgot to mention in my other post that the guy who couldn't find the harness behind his tail lights had just taken delivery of a 2022, but I'm not sure what trim level it was. People with the 20 and 21 model who didn't have the switch had to install it and a relay before they could do the bed lights.

Even if you don't have the cargo lamp/bed light switch in the cab, you may be pre-wired. My ACLB required me to add the cargo lamp switch and a relay to be able to use the bed lights with the pre-wired harness.
