I've read about people using the spring coils from a 3.4l S-Runner on a 2.4l base 5 lugger to get a little bit of lift out of them...which is all I'm looking to do.
Couple those with daystar or Fat Bob's spacers to get maybe 1.5 inches or so of lift?
    Looking at these.

    Or these.

But would those work with my 2wd auto trans? Does it matter? Do I need any other info or parts to do this install?
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

Never have heard of uaing those springs however back when i did a coil lift nearly 10 years ago we had to replace my UCAs with Uniball ones to make everything work right and even still it was a struggle.

Save the excess strain on your alresdy weak lower ball joints and get lift spindles. 5 lugs are a labor of love to lift as they can be finicky and have a few weak parts. Unless you go Long Travwl and eliminate these I would keep stock geometry as much as possible. Speaking from experience having lifted a 5 lug 3 times and had critical parts break 3 times.

    What UCAs did you use?
I can't find any for a 2004 5 lugger, except for the ones in the Total Chaos kit that costs an insane amount.
Can you drill it to install a uniball for another set of UCAs?

Definitely going with the spindle lift, just unsure on whether I should keep my stock UCAs or not.
If I get new UCAs, wouldn't I need different coils, too?

I had some that a guy had made before he went LT nothing production.

Do the Spindle first and see how you like it. When you start doing more than that to the 5 lug tacos without eliminating the lower BJ situation your just asking for trouble and problems trust me, been there plenty.

I had some fabtech coils for a prerunner on my 5 life. I had to cut n trim them to fit. Lifted the truck but was stiff n 31" tires still rub with
    Fiberglass. I wouldn't recommend it

Wound up just going with the Fabtech spindles, if anything does break, I think I'll just stick with OEM replacements.
    Thanks guys

New UCA's have no bearing on needing different coils or not...

I mean the uniball UCAs...when I've seen people put them in, I've seen them use different coils with them.
I guess that if they're using the coil to add lift, right?
I'm new to figuring out the ins and outs of suspensions.

Also, got a quote from a suspension shop to install the Fabtech spindle/add a leaf/shock kit for me for $1800! WTF.
I work two jobs and it's hard for me to find time to install it myself, and only having experience changing tires, I'm nervous to attempt this myself.
I emailed a few other shops for quotes, waiting to hear back.
How difficult would it be for me to do it, and how long would it take? Any in depth write ups anywhere on this?

The main reason for unibal UCA's is to regain a good alignment after lifting 2.5 to 3 inches while adding a bit more suspension travel.

You can get uniball uppers while staying stock though if you like. Dont need different coils. But yes adding a tall lift coil is when getting a uniball upper is beneficial.
