    I made a DIY version of this with ebay LiFePo4 cells for about $200. 100ah, 27lb. I think they charge so much because lithium battery setups can get a little complex.

    A 400w inverter is not very useful for anything. I have a 600w sine wave to run an LED TV and charge cordless drill batteries. Any inverter bigger than that isn't practical unless you have an assload of batteries. Just go buy a HF 2kw predator generator for $499.
