anyone done this or heard of guys doing it with their tacos? Have some 6-10” diameter trees and wondering if I can just rip them out with strap.

:rofl: It depends what type of tree it is. Some you will have to cut all the roots first.

whatever happens please video and post it

Make sure you back up to the stump, then accelerate fast. The extra speed will help pull them out easier.

If you do it, take a video. 10" tree should be entertaining to watch. Do yourself a favor and use a chain not a strap.

Can it be done with small ones, sure. But straps usually store energy and recoil. Plenty of videos of back windows getting smashed out or worse. A chain would probably be better for this type of duty as it will not store energy and fall to the ground upon slacking

Be ready to have a tree come through your back window. But seriously, slow and steady wins the race.

OMG I'm so tired of hearing this shit. I can't believe that's your main concern in ripping a stump out of the gound. Wtf is the ball going to hit? The stump

Even if the strap is rated for over 30,000 lbs? I can’t imagine a Tacoma could even achieve half that amount of torque

    It's not about breaking.
    Its about stretching and recoiling.
A chain wont have stored energy to fling it towards the truck.

If you have a massive log or barrel put it under the chain so it pulls the stump upward as well as forward. Slow and steady and if it’s tough going just chop roots as they get exposed.

I did it once with a 71 Chevy truck, but it had a 327 in it. I'd recommend a tractor, or just cut it to the ground with a chainsaw and let the roots decay naturally.

I pulled several stumps for some bushes. I soaked the ground for several hours before trying to pull them out. 4 low, tug, tug, tug, pop!
