My dealer installed an Undercover Flex Tonneau cover on my 2017 limited.... and it mounts directly to the factory rails, making them useless for anything else.

I saw this video for the backflip that has brackets that relocate the rail below:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL1YNoYdrMo

Has anyone tried this, and/or any other ideas on how to get some functionality of my rails back?

    Thanks

I’ve got a Bakflip G2 that mounts like the one in the video. Still retain 100% functionality of the rails.

i assume it came with those brackets? wonder if they'll work with another brand - don't see why not.

i'm on the backflip site... don't see them offered as an add on.

I'd try giving them a call and see if you can order them as a replacement part. Chances are the only place to get them would be from BAK.

Sub'd to see if it works!

As FYI... just heard back from them :-(

    Hello,

Unfortunately we do not have a kit like they do, all of our installs keep the factory track system where they are.

And when i asked if they thought the brackets would work, they said:
I don’t believe it will, our clamps are longer than there and they would interfere with the track

Wonder how hard it would be to make something that would work?

Funny thing is that BAK and Undercover are sister companies... They will likely be sharing this setup soon...

You would have to be pretty good at fabrication to make something easily to work... those BAK rails have a groove in the back that the brackets slide into... so they won't attach to the Undercover rails...

i hope so. i thought the products looked really similar. WAs a bit surprised that the response was so quick with no solution. Clearly must be a fairly large problem... or heck, maybe it's not.

Ran into this problem as well. Did you find a solution?

My thought was to get some sort of 3d printed brackets that would relocate a new rail down a few inches to clear under the rails.

I am thinking flat bar attached to the undercover brackets with two new channels would work, just not sure it will take much load that way.
