Kind of a crappy pic, but here's the new suspension kit & tires installed this morning.. Post better ones later when I get some time.. Bilstein 5100's, Eibach coils & Wheeler's Off Road HD progressive 1.5" AAL..

    image.jpg

Only driven it about 30 miles on highways/paved roads, but the ride is 100x better than stock, it's a completely new truck. Now it actually drives like a truck. Taking it camping this weekend down south and can't wait to see how it does on some dirt.. Really happy with how it handles and drives so far!! :D

Be careful normally there is a break-in period of a week or two on suspension then you get everything 're torqued so everything's nice and tight..

    It looks great BTW.!

I decided to get out of the heat and head to the Uinta Mntns. I found this guy in Midvale who rents Old Time BIG canoes for $10 bucks a day! Includes canoe, jackets, paddles.

Very nice guy. If any of you are interested I found him on KSL.

We went to Lost Lake near Mirror Lake. 79 degrees today. So nice.

How were the bugs right now? My buddy and I are heading up there tomorrow in my Taco to hike with my dog, let him swim etc. (The dog, not the buddy! LOL) Same theory: head to elevation to escape the heat. Haven't yet decided which trailhead though. Maybe Murdock Basin -has anyone been out that road recently? I'm wondering how passable it is.

    I'll answer my own questions:
    1. The swarming black flies are annoying as hell right now, but they're showing little inclination to bite.
    2. The Murdock Basin Road is an unrelenting seven-mile bone-jarring, kidney-bursting, rock-hopping bounce-fest, but it's very passable.

Full deets on our day, including a bevy of photos:

Thanks man! Looking forward to getting out there, even with the heat. I'm looking to upgrade my factory suspension eventually, did you replace the rear springs or just do the AAL? You have the setup that I want to go with, but my rear leaf springs are shot and was trying to decide between the Dakars or Wheelers.

Thanks all, much appreciated! The total cost was $400 for the install & alignment. I dropped it off at 9am and picked it up at 5:30pm, not sure exactly when they started & how long it took. But I believe I was first quoted at 5 hours.

Thanks! Ya, was very hot down in the lower elevations but went up to the Fishlake National Forest area and at 9,000 feet the temps were perfect..

Ya, I am going to bring it back to have it re-torqued next week when I am back in town. Thanks for the heads up tho!

I went with the wheelers hd progressive 1.5" AAL, a 3 leaf total pack. Added to my stock 3 leaf (non TSB) pack.. I really did want to get the dakars but did not want 3"+ of lift, too much for me.. After taking it this weekend with a full load of gear, dog & me & my wife, it held up fantastic!! With all of that weight, I was always on the overload leaf & bump stops with my stock suspension, but with the new AAL pack fully loaded I was still 1" at least over the stock unloaded height and kept level with the front. No sagging at all.

Granted, only 1 trip so far but it was exactly the added stoutness I needed and performed amazing. Would def recommend.
