When I first moved to SLC I thought grid numbers for streets was stupid. Five minutes later I thought it was genius. Now I can find any location easily. I go back to Texas and I'm lost... :D

As a New England native and a sailor who spend 8 years on the God-forsaken Florida Gulf Coast (only the sailboat on the dock in the backyard made that tolerable), I got over that deficiency after living here for, oh... about 15 minutes.

Hey guys, just found out that my insurance company isn't licensed to insure in
Utah, so I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on some recommendations for insurance agents?

Funny that you ask here, because I work in claims for Farmers. When I chose my agent I asked myself, "Who's my biggest pain?" because when you have a claim yourself that's exactly who you want to have in your corner. And the answer to my question was Ken Evanson in Holladay. I've been very pleased with his service.

Farmers may not be the cheapest, but when it comes to claim service you truly do get what you pay for.

Hey guys it's been awhile since I've posted on here. It's good to see an active Utah thread.

Curious if any of you could recommend a good place to have my truck emission/ safety inspection done. I have a feeling I'm going to get the runaround because of my high clearance rear bumper.

Its good to see you back.

Your bumper will be fine. One item that officially you do fail with is the mud flaps, as they are required with any suspension or tire modifications from stock.

Of course, you can always just put your original mud flaps back on if they still fit.

If not, what I ended up doing for my mudflap issue is probably the easiest option that Z actually came up with after I ripped off and completely lost one of my mud flaps one trip.

I picked up some 3/4" threaded solid pipe and 4 nuts from home depot. Also some square tube that doesn't quite fit the pipe (you want to be able to square off the threaded pipe so its not going to rotate). Of course you'll also need the 8 sets of washers/bolts/nuts to attach the mud flap. Then I visited Napa Auto, as they actually have straight mud flaps that aren't all angled for like $9 each.

Anyway, I cut the threaded pipe in half and ground down about 2" of the threads so it fit into the square tube. Square tube should be cut about the same length of the mudflaps. Added a few tack welds to make sure it wont come apart. Then attached the mud flaps and bolted it through the recovery points on the back bumper, using the set of nuts to adjust how much it sticks out.

Maybe not the prettiest, but it is legal now and the mud flaps sit far enough back that I'm no longer ripping them off every time I backup against a rock. It has worked far better than the detachable type I used to use, and pretty easy to remove if I need access to the recovery point, as long as you carry an adjustable wrench.

The other issue you might have is how much the tires stick out. You'll likely be fine unless its very obvious.

Most inspection places really dont follow the law very well anyway, specially if you've taken the vehicle to them in the past (so they know you aren't a surprise tester)

As a suggestion, I always recommend avoiding the places with the brake pad testers (or just ask for a manual brake inspection). I just hate those testers...

HELP! 2011 SR5 wont start without a little play...battery and starter working. When I did get it cranked (after quickly turning the ignition and having everything shut off) I have a check engine and skid indication lights. (no tone with the light) Taking it to the dealer later today, but does anyone have an idea?

Do you guys know an affordable/reliable shop along the wasatch front preferably in the SLC area to get a flowmaster muffler and have it installed?

^^ took it down to bountiful where I bought it. (tony divino was booked up until thur) I'll let the warrenty get this fixed. I think I must have shot the guy a look when he said "low voltage", because then he said "well we'll take a look at everything especially the check engine and other light."

Might be a little more expensive but Will knows what he's doing and is really chill.

    Did they get it fixed?
