I never got to taking my truck into to have them do work due to a change in cash availability but Kurt was extremely helpful and prompt with getting information to me.

Did you ever get your bushing installed? If you haven't I would try to do it yourself. I just did the install this last weekend and it was pretty easy. First thing like this that I have ever done.

For the most part, the transmitter and receiver is all going to be about the same. CB is limited to 4watts, and with technology today, that is very easy to come by.

There are important things with CB though. Mainly wiring, antenna, and tuning. A CB setup is not like your am/fm car stereo and needs to be properly installed.

Antennas are all pretty standard now, but with this, you need to know what type to get. Either a grounded antenna, or a NGP (no ground plane) antenna. Overall, for the stuff you'll be using it for, it really wont matter what type you get, but if you get a grounded one, you must have a great ground connection. I guess there's also the magnetic ones as well, and they should work fine on a trail (just dont expect great performance).

For wiring, you do need a matching cable for your antenna (GP vs NGP). It is far easier if you get a cable that is pre-built. Do not cut it to length. It will make it quite a bit more difficult to tune if you do.

I recommend just buying the cable + antenna in a kit. Sometimes you can even get the brackets also.

Tuning is the most important of a cb radio. This will determine if you're able to send/receive for miles, or if you just completely destroy your radio. (yes, an improperly tuned antenna can destroy your radio). There's all sorts of wave length stuff to explain it, but the end result is if you aren't tuned, you're not going to get any real distance (I've seen some that have issues transmitting 5'), will be unhappy and frustrated with the results, and can cause damage to the radio. If you need help with this, I have a SWR meter and can help (SWR meters really aren't expensive) and are pretty easy to use.

    Awesome info thank you!

Im still looking into different options as to what to get, I was going to pull the trigger and start buying stuff. But I ended up owing money on my taxes so MOD money is on hold till I straighten that out.

Again thanks for that info, I will give you a shout if I need some assistance!

My brother and I might be headed out there with the Tacoma and the RZR's. It all depends on if his wife will let him get away. If we make it out there, I'll keep an eye out for ya.

Thanks, I am pretty happy with the setup. I just got a set of the new rails back from the cutter today and they are even better looking than the originals. I think people will be very happy with them.

Well looks like I'll most likely be making it. Hopefully I can find time to switch my street tires over to my mudders tomorrow. I live about 2 miles away from 5 mile so someone just text me or let me know when you guys are close to the chevron at the cross roads (SR 73 & Redwood).
