They are powered Amp running boards, they open with the doors..

They were sticking open when I bought the truck. The dealer promised to fix them. They lubed them once, then they stuck again. They took off the motors and found mud and rust inside, and tried to blame me for off roading (I've owned it a month and drove on one dirt road in the rain). Then they tried to sell me new motors for $300, and I finally got them to remove them so I can put on regular ol' steelcraft nerf bars.

Thanks.. there was one guy in parts who gave me his lugnuts, he is awesome.. and the kid that works at the service checkout counter on weekends, he is really nice. And Lee Morin has helped, even though he wasn't involved in the sale. I can't say everyone has been jerks, I'm just a difficult customer to work with, apparently. hahah. I should've known better.

One of my AMP motors failed last winter. I just called AMP up and they sent me two free motors. If you are still interested in them, I'd call AMP and tell them your steps are still in warranty and ask for new ones.

I actually like them.....but have Relentless sliders on order now. :anonymous:

Good to know. I should still replace them so I can try to sell them. I would've liked them if they worked. It surprised me how much mud was in the motor, surely that should be sealed, right?

They should absolutely be sealed better. There is virtually no sealing on those motors. I took my second set and sealed them with RTV. They are still working fine...until my sliders come in. Then I'm selling them.

    Called AMP, they said

    1. Warranty only applies to purchaser and is void when the truck is sold
    2. They are to be cleaned and greased monthly

I told him they have a shotty product.

Cleaned and greased MONTHLY? That's says shitty product to me. The question is why don't they make better motors when you pay $1200 for their stuff?

Bahaha.. hence those damn chrome XD's. I was lucky to sell them on KSL pretty fast, but my dumbass didn't think about the TPMS sensors when I bought the new ones :(

Don't worry, Hank will be a crossbreed of Mall and Dirt monger before too long. He's getting better every day!

Jake, go to Napa. They'll do core charges plus lifetime warranty. I never had an issue running them in my 4Runner. Little moab was fun. Like earlier said, some very capable rigs. Here's some not tacoma pictures

Any 2nd gen guys want a skid plate? I built the one on my truck right now as a prototype to some aluminum ones I am working on. The Aluminum IFS is done and I will be putting it on the truck tonight.

$50. I think it is 8 or 9 gauge steel so it is pretty rigid. Mounts in the front and back to factory spots. Nothing major but much better than stock.
